Re: Anyone bothered that McNabb STILL has no new contract??

I think it's fair for one to be a little worried about McNabb not having a contract. The fact is we traded 2 fairly high draft picks for a 1 year rental. McNabb probably should have agreed to a contract before we spent 2 draft picks for a potential one year player.

I've heard MS wants to "try him out" after 8 games or so. I don't think it's wise nor was it the intention to send 2 draft picks to Phili, for a coach to try him out or see how he performs. That's a big gamble. A trade like this to means that both sides have to be committed long term at the time of the trade for it to be made initially. That's the issue i have. If he or we decide to walk, this was a huge front office blunder.

I do think, though, that it will get done. I'm sure there are things we don't know. It is cause for concern.

The Skins have given away 2 draft picks for a lot less return than DM has already given. I have heard he's interested in going to Minn to get back with his old coach, if that happens best wishes to him, Shanny will find another solution.

What I'd really like to see is for the Skins to make a serious running at trying to snatch Manning away from Indy.

Yes, but you can't argue it was a wise move to give away 2 draft picks for a 1 year guy. True, they've done worse, but we should be a better run organization now.

Wishful thinking, but no way Indy lets him sniff the open market.

Seriously wishful thinking. That fan base would get out the torches and pitchforks if Polian let Manning escape.

It is wishful thinking but anything can happen if the timing and offer is right. I dont think anyone ever thought Joe Montana would leave SF, Joe Namath leave the Jets, Johnny U leave the Colts, or Favre not be a Packer. It unlikely but the Skins have $ and an owner that isnt afraid to spend it.

True, but Manning is neither a shell of his former self nor do the Colts have an obvious heir apparent sitting on their bench as was the case the players and teams you mentioned

Also, by waiting it puts more pressure on the Skins to get it done and you know what more pressure means right? More money.

If the Skins don't get it done, it will look bad on their part.

Re: Anyone bothered that McNabb STILL has no new contract??

After the houston game I was like Wow,this is what its like to have a great qb.But he's been downhill since. Then when they showed that stat last week how his qb rating drops dramatically in the 2nd half,I was like damn, thats bad news. But then he had a pretty good 2nd half against the colts.
Right now Mcnabb is not near as good as I thought he was going to be,were winning games in spite of him instead of because of him.
But having said that,I would still want him back without overpaying him,but i dont see that happening.I think its going to go down to us either waiting to long to do something and pissing him offto where he wont want to sign,or we overpay to keep him.

We have won games because McNabb has made some big plays for us but you cannot survive winning of a few big plays week after week. In Phil he had some bad games but would turn around and have great games. So far here its one great game and the rest not so great except for some bog plays.

I want us to groom or pick up a QB with some promise. Let McNabb go at the end of the year. We can win without him, because of our developing running game. If we keep him, he's gonna choke in the bigger games the next 2 or 3 years like he did the end of last year in those back to back games against Dallas. I just don't have the faith in him to win playoff games at this point. I know what he did in the past, but that was the past.

What? We can properly groom a quarterback now and still win with McNabb. I mean jesus, what other options we got? Its like franchise QB hit the market every offseason...We have a playoff experienced, leader in the locker room, competent quarterback who has already won us games this season, Im lost?...You want us to sit through another possible bust on the field like with just got through with for 3 or 4 years like effing JC? Im tired of watching that bullsh*t, McNabb is a great option for us now. We can draft a QB and let him ride the bench and learn under a real QB...Let McNabb go after one season is an epic fail

I would like to keep him one year and have his replacement be drafted and have a year to learn. This coming year's quarterback class is pretty deep and there's no reason we can't get a decent QB.

Why stop at Peyton Manning. We should make a run at Adrian Peterson, DeMarcus Ware, and Andre Johnson too.
