I was actually pleasantly surprised. Within hours of signing up, I had reconnected with lots of my friends from my college days down in Florida who I haven't spoken to or seen in several years. Plus I put lots of wedding/honeymoon pics up for family and friends to see.

I'm not spending much time on there, but it's been pretty cool to look at pictures of old friends who have since started families. I certainly don't see myself turning into one of these people who is habitually updating their status, checking for friend requests, etc etc.

I see my primary usage as sharing photos with friends/family.
I like seeing old friends and what their up to, and im just getting to that age where people are starting to get married and having kids and stuff. Whats really wierd is when you see a girl you banged back in the day with a kid. I think if i started a family i would de friend all the people im not close to or still keep at least moderatly in touch with.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Just two or three years ago, none of my friends had kids. Now a lot of them are getting married, and several have young kids- like 2 years old or younger. Pretty awesome.

And as far as chicks from back in the day... LOL. I'm friends with several who were notches on the old bed post back in the day. Ahhh, college.

I've gotta say, I've stuck to my guns very well. After 2 months, I have about 115 friends on Facebook. They are all people I'm definitely friends with, or relatives (aunts/uncles/cousins/my dad). I've turned down several odd friend requests (weirdest was a request from an ex-girlfriend from YEARS ago - very bad break-up).

I have all the privacy settings on the strictest possible, and turned off ALL alerts, so I don't get emails or texts about ANY facebook activity whatsoever.

I find myself spending about 10 minutes a day on the site.

I talked a good game when I signed up, but I'm not gonna lie, I was pretty concerned it would turn very addictive very quickly. Not so much.

Re: Your Opinion on Facebook

Anyway, facebook is facebook. What I mean is you go there to share details of your life through words and photos. On a very basic level, that's all there is to it. Some people take it to the extreme, others not so much.

Similarly many of us visit Warpath to post pictures from training camp, photos and videos of live football games, our man caves, spouses, babies, and friends. We discuss and share intimate details of our lives: Weddings, deaths and births, firings and hirings and everything in between. Hell, there's been more advice given here than Dr. Phil could only dream about! Seriously. Just about every damn thing under the sun is and has been discussed, analyzed, and dissected here on Warpath. We've made this into much more than just a football forum, we're a community. And that's what facebook is all about, your own little community that you shape.

I don't always come to Warpath to talk football. So to completely dismiss facebook as some freaky, new social phenomenon, to me, means that one isn't completely informed about what facebook is/isn't or they're not aware, or at least honest, about how they choose to interact with others here on Warpath in a very similiar way; as a social outlet.

I suppose on some level what we do here is less acceptable by social norms. I've never met any of you, yet I visit and talk to you almost daily. At least on facebook I know all the mofos I'm talking to. My 12 cents.

The good news First and Scud, is that you've got a shot with Betty White. A shot I guess I'll never have since I'm on FaceBook...although Longtimefan might be more her cup of tea

Re: Your Opinion on Facebook

You know what would be weird to me is to merge my facebook world and my Warpath world together. Like, I would never 'friend' any of you on facebook. Well, maybe Hessy but I digress

I really enjoy being unanimous.

There is something to be said about being unanimous on here. If you ask for advice people just focus on your issue there is no hidden agenda, where as a family member can't give you a completely straight answer becasue of all of their basis towards you. Am I making sense?

True, but I don't go to facebook for advice. So being unanimous really doesn't matter to me when comparing the two worlds, as far as advice goes. In fact, facebook is about putting yourself out there, no being unanimous.

Re: Your Opinion on Facebook

I am like Quake. I dont love or hate Facebook. Don't see too many negatives, you just have to be smart on it like anything else in the world.

Don't allow everyone to see your full profile, don't type dumb things, post dumb pictures and put too much personal information.
