Not to mention he is still really good. He dominated against Miami. Then Jones has a couple nice runs ONE game and Morris gets benched. Doesn't sit well with me. And Jones got drafted in 3rd round so they can throw some cash at Morris and still not be putting much towards the RB position.

Re: Gruden/Redskins Doing Alfred Morris Dirty
Alf has been one of my favorite Skins and remains so....
BUT he is not worth one damn nickel more than "a" team is willing to pay him. He has been well compensated for his performance to date. Additionally, he will cash in on his next deal. The stupidest thing (and the skins have done it repeatedly in the past) we could possibly do is base his upcoming deal on the past rather than the future..... Beyond contractual obligations, we owe him nothing and he owes us the same.

If Morris isn't in McC plans...move him now. Probably could get 4th or (finger cross ) a 3rd...

Some Skins fans love Scott so much already, he can walk in and gut punch their mothers and they'd be like, if he says it benefits the Skins, its ok by me.

I have ZERO problems with that contract idea. That seems fair/logical to me.

Re: Gruden/Redskins Doing Alfred Morris Dirty
If they like Matt Jones better and view him as the future....then don't phase Alf out.
Imo the right strategy is too use him up until the wheels fall off. He's a proven back in this league. Give a boatload of carries get his numbers up, thus creating value. Then trade him before the trade deadline while you still hold his rights. |

Re: Gruden/Redskins Doing Alfred Morris Dirty
I feel like people don't watch the same games. Alfred is obviously struggling with this running scheme. He looks timid and lacks any burst hiting the hole a lot of time. He also seems to run "softer" then he did his rookie year. I remember him running people over. Now he kinda runs in to people and just stands still.
I don't know what it is this year. He really does seem to lack burst. He also limits the offense because when he's on the field. He's no threat to catch the ball unlike the other two RBs. So teams basically can just scheme to stop the run when he's in the game.

There are a lot of good RB's that don't have the best hands out of the backfield, that's why most teams have 3rd down backs. Those are roles Jones/Thompson can fill, in addition to Jones doing his normal subbing in for Morris throughout the game. I just hope Morris is starting week 4. And I'll leave it at that.

Re: Gruden/Redskins Doing Alfred Morris Dirty
Just my humble opinion... I think that the Redskins should resign Alfred Morris, for the right price of course, and use him in tandem with Matt Jones. Personally I'd switch between the two or even, occasionally, put them both in the backfield at the same time.

Re: Gruden/Redskins Doing Alfred Morris Dirty
Nobody is doing Morris wrong. Outside of the opener he's been outplayed simple as that. He needs to pick it up and earn those carries back. I think Jones is clearly the future though.

Re: Gruden/Redskins Doing Alfred Morris Dirty
As nice as that is to think about, I think Alfmo knows he can pickup a bigger payday and a solid #1 starting spot on other teams. Nobody wants to play second fiddle or rotating fiddle when they know they're good enough to be the sole starter on teams that desperately need it.
