Cousins 3.0, he's going to sign the franchise tag

KC stands to take in $77M over 3 years of the tag, fully guaranteed. I'm still failing to see how he's playing this wrong or why he should take a penny less.

Do you understand supply and demand? There are about 15 QBs in the NFL who you could see contending for a Super Bowl title. There are 32 teams in the NFL.
Yeah, but I also see what happened to teams that blew their load on an uncertainty. KC still has a lot to prove and teams are going to want an out after about 2 years. We'll see. I think it also depends on whether Brees and Stafford get contracts prior to his.

Because most teams that aren't fucking retarded wouldn't have tagged him 3 years in a row(if we do next season) and would have done a LTD two years ago.

Very true and I wholeheartedly agree. But we did tag him twice, and now he does have that leverage.

That toothpaste isn't going back inside that tube.

I don't think he played it wrong. Just that if he wanted to be here, he would have taken in the same 77M + more if injured. Both sides had their line they wouldn't cross, and both sides came away aware that neither side gave in enough to get a deal done. Kirk is putting his future on his back, and if he wins the Skins do to, at least for this year.

Like someone else said, I'm over this drama, let's see what KC, Pryor, Doctson, Crowder and Reed do on the field. I'm pretty excited about our team's personnel.

We can revisit KC's future next offseason.

Go Skins

this.

Question to the faithful...after he signs it, can a long term deal still be struck? Brain is turning to piss, but I think we still can.

no more deals can be done till next offseason, but next year if we FT him again, we would have till July 15th. and he still wouldn't sign because KC wants to see what his market value is. (I think he will be disappointed like most FA's that think to high of themselves).

Well, let KC prove his worth this year. I'm rooting for him to succeed (of course) regardless as to what happens next year. Let him prove it. But know that us Redskins fans have very high expectations this year.

Hope the paid assassin plays well. There is a lot of pressure for him to do well. Of course that's always the case in DC.

Fuck it, I'm done. We have him this year that's all that really matters in the NFL. Every NFL cycle is only 1 year. I'm glad they can't negotiate until after the season ends.

Bruce Allen and Cousins could simultaneously kick my dog and I'd still be singing HTTR at kickoff.

Just win baby!

Also, I'm switching my opinion on Allen releasing that statement. That was effing stupid. Stop throwing poison in the well that is already saturated with it. Damn dingleberry.

Bruce Allen must be jealous of the hatred the fanbase has for Snyder, because he is trying his best to get there.

I'd trade out Bruce Allen for a Bowl of Dicks as Team President.

I think you're crazy if you think no teams will meet his contract demands. We haven't offered him market rate (14% of the salary cap) once in the negotiations. Even the last one was sugarcoated to sound good, but it would have been a pay cut in the latter years, which again, is insinuating you don't value his services appropriately. Of course he wants to test the market. He is an in-his-prime, Pro Bowl elected, pocket qb (read: no gimmicks) with no injury history coming off 2 excellent seasons. Are we forgetting that every top free agent literally gets overpaid? He's a day-one bonafide stud, in a league with a qb shortage. He will have many suitors, all willing to pay 25-28 mil a year for his services. There has never been a qb of his caliber to enter FA, save for Brees who was coming off a shoulder injury to his throwing arm.

The man is going to get paid, barring a serious injury. SF is sitting there with 66 million of cap room (according to overthecap.com) and his former offensive coordinator as head coach, and Brian Fucking Hoyer as their starting qb. The only question is will there be a bidding war. The natural answer is of course, considering not a single team is going to have to give up a single draft pick to get him. Does anybody realize that? Stud qb's only get traded for heavy draft hauls. Even backup qb's (Kevin Kolb) get traded for high draft picks. This is the first time a prime qb like him will ever, and probably the only time, hit free agency.

Most teams aren't stupid enough to let their stud qb's walk. We are the exception. Yeah his contract demands are high, but that's literally what happens when you do this as poor as the Skins have. They should have given him a big extension 2 years ago with a way out in 2-4 years if it didn't work out. Instead you took your homegrown qb (that you took from a 4th round pick and turned into a Pro Bowler) and turned him into a rental, paying 44 mil for 2 years and potentially 77 million for 3.

Barring a massively unlikely SB victory this year it will be another wasted year and then back to square one next year. And we'll get to see him go to the 49ers and sit at his press conference talking about "it's nice to play for a team that wants me." Meanwhile we'll once again have a gaping fucking hole at the most important position on the team. And Bruce Allen will still be here, talking about "well we made him offers, I guess he just didn't like it here." Way to fucking go you cock master.

What's better, you pay him like Flacco, or you don't pay him and you go with turd burglar #1 at qb. Nah, you set the franchise back 5 years by trading up to select the qb you want in the draft. Nah, you trade a haul for an established qb already in the league who fucking sucks once he arrives at this shitshow. Nah, you settle for the first round rejects in FA who sucked with their drafting team. Meanwhile you convince yourself that Nate fucking Sudfeld who has spent 3 years riding the bench and lighting it up in preseason is the fucking answer. God damn. Fuck this team.

When did Nate ever light it up in preseason? That dudes never impressed me one little bit, which makes this whole situation even worse
