Yeah, we would be having the same arguments if the name was anything else either. Unless it's just pure Snyder hate, and people would accept anything that wasn't created by little napolean.

Washington Oaks

(I actually would like this, original names are cool).

That is so true. Lol.
Every other team can either be abbreviated(fins) is short (jets) it flows (ravens) or you can abbreviate the city like Cincy.

We are stuck with the Wash Manders. Only us.

I hope they change the name. It seems crazy but I think from an outsider perspective they would understand new owner new name. Commanders is fucking terrible. Ive said before winning makes everything ok but it would be really great to win and have a cool name.

If they were going with Commanders, they should have at least changed the city/area reference to D.C.

D.C. Commanders at least sounds like some sort of comic book heroes or something. Let's go D.C. is easy and rolls right off the tongue.

Washington Commanders is a ridiculously long and difficult name to use. Let's go 'Deeeerrrrrssss!

The big problem with DC (not the comics) is dallas fans would mock it/use it en masse in our stadium for their cowboys

Washington D.C. has been around way longer than the Cowboys.

Not gonna happen anyways, but I'll never spend time worrying about the opinion of Cowboys fans.

Love to know where you are getting these percent's from as well.
Well admittedly not scientific/controlled polls (eg the two polls on Redskins of Native Americans that had a 91-9 breakdown) but the social media and media question polls seem always to fall into that 80-20% breakdown.

Interesting article in WaPo today that says 15 months into the name change and Commanders still isn't trademarked. The US Patent & Trademark Office denied the trademark on May 18 citing "likelihood of confusion" with other similar marks. Oddly enough the Patent & Trademark approved Washington Football Team on Tuesday.

This is an opportunity for Harris et al. They (we) were given an easy out of the (awful) Commanders name.
Just back out of the Commanders, revert into Washington Football Team and keep it moving.
Same W on helmet, no need to pay for another rebrand at this point, and erase a Snyder stain about as easily and cheaply as possible.

Re: Changing The Team Name, Give It A Rest!!

I was watching Golf Channel and Joe T was playing in some tournament w/ a bunch of ex players and celebrities. They announced him as a former Commanders QB. 😩👎😡 So pathetic.
