Re: Next Big Name Snyder goes After
You might want to calm down just a bit with the Snyder bashing.
First off, he's not calling the shots as far as who the team goes after. Second and most important, the past few years the team hasn't chased the over the hill types that you named above. |

Re: The Moves We Should Make Next Year (merged)
I can't believe all the people that support snyder............Did you know he charges $15-20 in parking at six flags!!!! another thing that irks me is the low quality of the food at Fed EX, considering the impressiveness of the stadium. Those two things should be enough to anger you guys.
Problem with snyder is that he's not savy enough to make his own decisions, (leading, not following) He's learning every year from his mistakes. Has he ever heard of benchmarking, doing things the way that other owners did them in the past, therefore he has no idea how to be an effective OWNER, (not businessman, there's a difference). Why are skins fans proud of our 90,000 person stadium and absurdly unnecessarily high revenues, and "squeezing under the cap" The two teams with the best records in their conferences the last 5 years were pats and eagles, the two teams furthest under the cap.

re: Snyder - yeah i have zero stadium experience (least at Fedex) so i can't comment on any of that, i don't know how much of an actual hand he has with the parking prices (or cooking the food), but he certainly knows how to keep people coming, he's the most profitable NFL owner ever. even that should be his own thread, stadium issues versus actual team personnel etc. there are three threads here: Snyder can't run a stadium, Synder can't run a team, and finally, The Moves We Should Make Next Year.

that bit in the Post about having the chance to re-sign Clark and his influence on Sean Taylor makes me sick...

Re: The Moves We Should Make Next Year (merged)
Yeah, I didn't merge the threads, they arent the same topic. One topic is what we should do, the next is what snyder and the rest of the staff will do. People need to stop pretending that snyder has no say in the personnel moves.

Re: The Moves We Should Make Next Year (merged)
As far as the D goes, the problem seems incresingly obvious to me each week. The way GW builds his defense, it's built around a strong front 7. What he desires to do with his secondary is to use them in creative ways, thus he demanded we go out and draft the physical speciman that was Sean Taylor, and sign Adam Arculetta. The Corners are physical run stuffers despite conventional NFL defenses who prefer smaller, quicker, cover corners, thus the drafting of Carlos Rogers. The secondary has been under a lot of fire this year for giving up big plays. But Gregg Williams has and has always had an expectation for his front seven to dominate the line of scrimmage, allowing him to twist his coverage using the personel he has to throughly confuse the opponent. That's at least what happened the last two years. All of a sudden this year, we add a less physical defensive end and lose our physical linebacker, Arrington, and there is a gaping hole in the front seven. You add to that injuries to Griffin and Saleve'a, and Philip Daniels aging right before our eyes every week, and it's no wonder we are getting beat each week. Now rather than being on the attack, the secondary is on the defensive. And all those DBs have major flaws in their game that even the weakest NFL offenses are exploiting. Arculetta and Rogers are getting the brunt of it, but it's not like these flaws were just recently discovered. Williams had to take the good with the bad to get the physical abilities that he covets. This whole defensive problem is a product of GW's all or nothing defensive scheme. They either dominate the game, or they get dominated. And right now, the front 7 is playing average football. And in our scheme, average isn't good enough. Because we have a bunch of physical tools in the secondary who aren't the best cover guys (by design), who are getting picked apart.
The only quick fix I can see is to replace Holdman on the weak side. If Rocky is ready, play him. If he isn't, go somewhere else. Posey or somewhere. Or move Andre Carter back to LB, start Wynn or Evans at DE, and use Carter's skills to rush the passer. Because, right now at end, he's getting beat up in the run game, and is pretty mediocre in the passing game, and its killing the defense. Either way, something needs to be done to the front seven quickly.

Re: The Moves We Should Make Next Year (merged)
This is just terrifying (from a long article on Parcells with some comments on the Redskins):
"Referring to Al Saunders, Parcells says: “This other guy, I think, he’s a lot more indiscriminate. I think he’s not going to be as concerned about the effect on his defense.” In other words, the Redskins’ defense will pay the price — in time spent on the field, in fatigue — for Saunders’s disinterest in controlling the ball and the clock."

Quote:
"Parcells points out Redskins right tackle Jon Jansen. “This is Jansen getting pushed back,” he says. “He doesn’t look like the player he was a couple of years ago.” The right side of the Redskins’ line seems to have trouble with twists. If Newman can cover Moss long enough, Jansen won’t be able to hold off Greg Ellis or Marcus Spears, the Cowboys’ pass rushers he has to block." ![]()

I certainly hope the Redskins are using this as bulletin board material
