Re: Draft Day Trades: Jets Interested? (rumor)

i disagree devin hester will have at least 3 returns each year cause that is all that he does and rock finished 17th that's not getting you to the 30 each time i am not saying rock isnt good at it i am saying an upgrade wouldnt hurt now we dont have a pick until the 5th round why not look for a speed defensive back and train him in that aspect. devin hester has been doing that since he was in pop warner football and look what it has done for him or let randle el and cartwright do kick returns that would keep defenses off balance and why not let randle el do it even though he doesnt want to i likedit better when betts was back there he was 4th in ht e league i think and he got pro bowl alternate to koren robinson which i think was absolute crap

he's atleast decent...better than anything we've had in a long time...as far as Vilma goes, lets just go ahead and sign fletcher to end all this

Re: Draft Day Trades: Jets Interested?!(from a primary source)

Were losing a little here...Vilma is way more valuable than Betts...but the gap is even wider from the 6th pick down to 25th. They need to kick in another day 1 draft pick and then it's fair.

Anyone who thinks Betts is untradeable does not understand the NFL...RB's are a dime a dozen.

I think most people understand anyone is replaceable in this leaque. But you certainly don't have to look to far around the league and clearly see QUALITY RB/TB aren't DIME A DOZEN!

Futhermore, you MUST have at least ONE. With TJ more than likely gone, and used up. CP status not real clear? There's a chance LB is our #1 back with Rock as #2. They signed a solid back in LB to a 5 year deal for a GREAT reason we need him, and Joe Gibbs football is pound the rock first. If CP was 100% there might be an ounce of thruth to this thread.

Good RB's are not that hard to find. Look at the Colts letting Edge walk and replacing him with no problem. And we don't even really know how good Betts really is. When he ran the ball well at the end that was when our line was finally starting to gel. How many of his runs down the stretch did he make people miss or carry tacklers for extra yards? He is a good player...lets not make him out to be more than that. I think this trade is a little tilted towards the Jets, but lets not make Betts out to be this irreplacable player. A young MLB like Vilma is way more valuable than Betts.

That deal sucks for us. They'd need to sweeten it. They're the ones trying to unload a player, I would do that deal if they dropped another decent pick in.

Man this trade rumor needs some serious work. I'm in the camp of it isn't a good deal for us. The number six pick can be a great great player. No guarantees, but I hate this trade as is. Oh and I gotta give TEN AND SIX some props! Your post lasted almost an entire page. Congrats. I've never seen that before.

Honestly, i also think we are on the short end of the trade if we have to drop from pick #6 all the way to #25.

However if the deal became:

Redskins give up Betts and #6 overall
Jetts give up Vilma, #25 and their 2nd rounder. Then i would prolly be inclined to go for it.

If it was jets give up vilma, #25 and their 3rd rounder...i would still think about it.

Maybe we can get the pick we gave them for Rocky back? What better way to fix the LB situation then by getting the pick back that you dealt them to fix your LB situation?

I don't like the prospect of moving out of the top 10-15 and giving up the chance to get an impact lineman. But if we can get a deal similar to what we'd get if we traded down anyway, but then theres a Betts for Vilma deal, thats pretty damn sweet.

Re: Draft Day Trades: Jets Interested?!(from a primary source)

ASSUMING the deal on the table is Betts and the #6 pick for Vilma and the #25 pick this year: I'd take that deal in a flash!!

If Portis is healthy - and there's no reason to assume he will not be - Betts is the "back-up". That's the reality whether or not you want to believe it's "the right thing" in the grand scheme of the universe.

Vilma would be the starting MLB on this team even with a broken arm; that's how much better he is at MLB (in a 4-3) or at ILB (in a 3-4) than anyone else on the roster. Yes, I said ANYONE else on the roster.

And so, in order to acquire a lead-pipe cinch starting MLB, if what I had to give up was a back-up RB and a switch of first round picks, you bet I'd take that deal in a NY minute. And that's why I don't think it's gonna happen that way - - unless [hold your breath, folks] the Redskins sweeten the deal...

The problem is losing the #6 pick, hence, losing a potential monster at defensive tackle (assuming they would have picked Alan Branch). Even with Jonathan Vilma, you still need to bolster the middle alongside C. Grifin.

I don't care what linebackers you have. If you're getting manhandled at the line of scrimmage, a superstar LB making the tackle 5 yards later is still a huge problem.
