The first album I spent money on was Allen Sherman's - Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah. I had lots of 45's but I don't remember buying them ... they must have been gifts or hand-me-downs. I remember Big Bad John by Jimmy Dean especially.

Re: What was the first album you ever bought?

I had a paper route and was saving up for a record player like the one my older brother had. This was 1989, so when I was ready to buy a record player, I noticed that record stores weren't carrying that many records. I bought a boom-box with a CD player instead. At that time, I already had a bunch of cassettes like Straight Outta Compton, Eazy-Duz It, It takes a Nation of Millions..., Appetite for Destruction, Kill'em All and Ride the Lightining, but I'm not sure what I bought first. When I got that CD player, I went to Kemp Mill Records and bought my first two CDs:

Living Colour-Vivid
Motorhead - No Sleep At All
