Didn't Manning have a 6 pick game once? Just sayin'. Even the greats have bad games.

Last Superbowl...didn't he play like shit and threw a few key interceptions that cost them the game?

Not Rich Bartel. He's never had an NFL multi-pick game which counted. And he is certainly one of the greats.

Does anyone feel like they're in Philly?? Seriously, 7 games and McNabb doesnt deserve to be a Skin? Just let him go after the season? It's the FIRST year under a totally NEW regime for the Skins on top of McNabb's first year on the team! I actually have confidence in our offense right now when on the field. Sure he hasn't been awesome but I don't believe he's lost any games for us. We still have tons of work to do to get this team to where Shanny wants it, tons. We're 4-3, you couldnt ask for anything more right now. We've also been in every game. I'm sure both sides are just fine in terms of a contract. Let's just take it a week at a time.

d-i-e-s-e-l. Are you related to firstdown by chance?

Now come on. He's got about 10,000 more spelling mistakes to make before we start asking if he's related to firstdown. I actually liked his post, he makes great points. About the only thing that could've topped it off is if he seperated that into a couple paragraphs. But that's definitely not fd-level literacy, even if he did spell his name wrong.

I remember aside from all the hype in pre-season, I think the OL hasn't failed (only DDockery) Portis done but Torrain stepped up, havent seen FDavis utilized in a dual TE gameplan, the WR's are performing as expected except Moss is excelling and teams arent trying to take him away yet. I think McNabb is doing great. Campbell would have lost games Don. at least has made 80-90 yard drives and been a real leader on the field. I worry about the times we have good field position and can't capitalize. Not just b/c I bought the wife and I McNabb jerseys but i say keep him ust dont over pay. In another year when we have a worthy backup or another great veteran (Rex not talking about you) we will pass the reins. IMO.

Brees actually had a very similar game against Arizona so that theory can go out the window...

Re: Anyone bothered that McNabb STILL has no new contract??

I like Donovan and the move we made to get him was excellent, but he isn't the superstar we had hoped him to be, and I am not so sure our FO expected him to be one. THe best way I think we can explain it is that Shanny and Allen knew JC was a wash and had to bring in a vet to keep the ship afloat and competitve while they rebuild the team. In short, Donovan is a stop gap measure til they build the team and try their hand at drafting a QB in the next two years. That is why you will probably not see a contract extension at all. Right now we are totally relying on defense to win games and have the same red zone blues as we did under Zorn.

I'm kind of medium on Donovan McNabb -- he hasn't played that well, let's be honest. But the receivers have dropped big passes on him, it's a new offense, new line, new/bad receivers etc. so he gets the benefit of the doubt.

I say we keep him 1-2 more years but look to drafting a QB to take over.

That is what I think. WE are going to keep him through his entire contract for sure, but don't expect a contract extension. He is here to get the team on a competitive level so they have something positive to build on from the get go, but Donovan isn't going to be the QB to get us to the SB. We need at least two more FA periods and drafts to get the right personnel.

Im tired of watching that bullsh*t, McNabb is a great option for us now. We can draft a QB and let him ride the bench and learn under a real QB...Let McNabb go after one season is an epic fail
Agreed x 2

I'm surprised to see the McNabb bashing too. Not sure what team some of you guys have been watching the last few years. It reminds me of year one of Gibbs II. Guys are bashing cuz we go 6-10 but never consider the alternatives. Like they long for the 7 years of mediocrity and one playoff appearance that we got under Norv.

We are not 4-3 despite McNabb, we are 4-3 because of McNabb. Hate to pile on the JC bandwagon but if JC was our QB this year we'd be 1-6. The only game we maybe win is the Philly game. As bad as McNabb was against the Bears we still lose that game with JC trust me. Philly let McNabb go cuz they have 2 viable QB options on their bench. We have zero. I agree we need to develop a young QB for 2-3 years down the road, but McNabb is perfect for us right now IMO.

Couldnt agree more, this team is winning because of DM. That's what I was always trying to point out about JC and how his stats were misleading. He looked decent on paper but didnt win games. DM's stats are also misleading, he doesnt look as good as we think he should be on paper but the team is winning games with him and winning is all that matters.

And then there's this:

Redskins Insider - Grossman over McNabb? Here's the argument against.

Some fans really want Rex?? Thankfully we haven't seen anyone suggest that here.

Thats simply retarded and a step back. Rex is a good back up and his role should remain as that.

The value with McNabb in this offense is that he can still elude, is tough to take down and still can make plays with his feet. This is pivotal right now. Our O-Line is still a considerable weakness with protection and we need to continue to build a better line. Trent is a good first step, but we need help with the interior and a healthy right tackle. A stand up pocket passer such as Rex is absolutely not the right fit at this time.
