Re: NFL Free Agents Signings Thread

Byrd apparently rejected a 10M/year deal from Buffalo.

AP Sources: Bills talks with Byrd reach standstill | Pro32: Head to Head

Quote:
People familiar with the situation told The Associated Press talks have stalled and no further discussions are scheduled after the Bills made a lucrative, multiyear offer to Byrd. Without revealing the full value and length of the offer, one person said Byrd would have been paid about $30 million over the contract's first three seasons.
It is unclear how much of that was guaranteed but apparently it was a significant chunk (18M?). I think, regardless of where he ends up, he is not going to match that now.

Maybe he wants out of Buffalo. For 4yr/32 mil I would definitely bring him in, but if he's rejecting 10/yr from Buf I don't see us in the running.

Link? If so, damn. I wouldn't have overpaid for him but this safety market is drying up fast. I don't want to end up with leftovers.

Not a lot of safeties left on the market who can step in and start. Pretty much Byrd and ...

Cuts both ways I guess.

How is it that we didn't land either Linval Joseph or Arthur Jones?

I guess this is what the anti-Redskins method of free agency feels like. Weird to see us letting all the top talent go to other teams.

Idk how good he is, but I have a hard time trusting a safety from a team with major defensive issues like the Falcons had last year.

Do you sense that they are much stingier with contracts to defensive players than offensive ones? Just a feeling.

Not so sure about that:

After making the Pro Bowl in 2012, DeCoud was routinely burned on the back end last season. We don't expect him to have a strong market. DeCoud turns 29 in eight days.
