It has been around as long as football has been played they just seem to utilize it way more than other teams. Typically I see it in goal line situations with QB sneaks etc.

Traditional QB sneaks are not the same play. The aim is to create a gap the QB can push himself into.

Until they changed the assisting the runner rule the backs couldn't push the QB. I'm actually surprised it took so long for someone the come up with the tush push, given its nearly 20 years since the rule change.

I remember at far back in the 80s in goal line situations where a runner with the ball gets stood up at the line and teammates pushed them from behind.

Re: Around the NFL Week 2

Tush push is the worst play to be seen on an NFL field since...... well fucking nothing. It's cheap, gross and stupid like the city of Philadelphia and the lot of their fans. It should be banned.

Kickoff sucks too but I get it. Still sucks.

It's been only 2 games, let's wait 1-2 years to see who is better. Although there is no doubt the first 2 are definitely better than Young.

He looked broken and lost on the sideline last weekend. Time will tell.

Nothing is going to make him any taller. He was standing in the pocket on tiptoe to see over the line in a video I watched. In today's NFL, I wouldn't draft any QB under 6'2" tall unless he was very mobile and had a strong arm. Even Caleb who is a very special talent is going to have some difficulty because of his lack of height.

This is a great point about how important having a taller qb really is. Everyone forgets Jayden is 6'4". Height is no issue here and he move around the pocket with the best of them. Totally agree having a taller qb is an advantage.

Height, being taller, is definitely an advantage, but at 5' 10" he could still have success. He could still be a really good quarterback in the NFL. Isn't he the same height as Kyler Murray, and pretty close to Russell Wilson's height? I guess you can't always trust what it says on the team pages.

I just think he was set up for failure from the get-go. We shall see.

Re: Around the NFL Week 2

I'm hesitant to give up on Bryce Young.
Panthers owner is the new Snyder and a bunch of old first round busts are playing well for new teams.

I'd like to see him as a backup on the Rams or Seahawks.

I am not giving up on Young, I am giving up on anyone in the Panthers front office to develop a QB, Darnold left Carolina looks great, Baker while there for just a little while left there looks great.

Shameless self-promotion. It is what it is.

Great point. He is talented, but he is so damn small. But Kyler is too and has played at a high level at times.

I actually think sitting him is the right call, right now.

Re: Around the NFL Week 2

I thought i saw that the panthers OL was actually reasonable (pff or similar). our OL is decent in run blocking and JD doesn't hold it super long, which helps a bit.
