Re: Let's talk good beer
I'm definitely gonna seek out more stuff by Hardywood. If they put half the love into their other beers as they did that Gingerbread Stout, it'll be worth it.

Re: Let's talk good beer
So crazy you have to go to the brewery to get that stuff. It really is an amazing beer.

Re: Let's talk good beer
Even if don't like it, I have to finish it...sometimes a beer will be better by the time I finish...pallet adjust and will get the full flavor. Not this one. I grew up on Guinness stout, Black and Tans...
Have moved on to bells third coast ale. Really impressed..bells does it again...this drinks like a strong ale with a fuller body along with the punch. Kinda step out of my comfort zone with beer choices tonight. |

Had a couple stop by last night and got turned on to Smartmouth Rule G out of Norfolk. I've been critical of va breweries not bringing enough dankness, but this rule g IPA is a keeper. Complex, balance and Damn hoppy...I just looked it up 88 ibu. That's high. Even though I shit on Oskar Blues death by coconut, let me say this...Oskar Blues IPA is in my rotation right now as my favorite beer. The next beer you must try is this...really light body and the hops combination is something I've never had...reminds me a little of the floralness of heavy seas, but has a sweet blueberry finish. It's a must try, pour it in a glass |

Re: Let's talk good beer
I'll 2nd Oskar Blues IPA. Good stuff. Definitely a different vibe from it, which I equated to the Aussie hops.
Death by Coconut is definitely not for everyone. I can see someone not liking it. I'm enjoying it though. Spent Saturday afternoon at my current fave MD Brewery, rar, in Cambridge. My friend got a few flights, while I stuck with pints. I had 2 of their Farmhouse Nectar, which was very good. Kinda like a saison meets an IPA. 7.4%. I got a Boba Fett growler with this in it to share with friends. Also had a blackberry saison that was very good as well. One of my buddies got a gift from his sister who was in Chicago last week. Half Acre Daisy Cutter, Three Floyds Alpha Klaus, and Ska Brewing Mole Stout. So between those and my growler, we have some good drinkin' to do.
