Re: Sean Taylor Spitting Video
THere's something particularly nasty and negative about spitting in someone's face--in football, they're hitting each other all the time. Spitting is a different kind of thing--it's a sort of personal disrespect. I think it's totally appropriate that Taylor was tossed. One the video, listen to the skins response to the ref--he says that Taylor spit in Pittman's face; the skins (I think it's Prileau or Stoutmeyer, maybe (sps??)) say oh! and stop asking questions. I think most players would agree that it was the right move. About the retaliation--hard to say.
My main hope is that Taylor friggin learns from this!!! My god, he almost cost us the game in the playoffs! Can you imagine what this thread would be like if the bucs had caught that pass that got behind our depleted secondary? Wow. He needs to wake up--you can't act like a punk. It hurts the team.

Re: Sean Taylor Spitting Video
I heard that this video on putfile, is a doctored video. I have seen several views and even watched the game in slo mo at home last night, and there is nothing there.

Re: Sean Taylor Spitting Video
Staks--that's interesting. Where did you hear that it was doctored? I, too, wondered that--not the rest of the vid, but just the obvious lugie that you see. If that's the netwrok feed, why didn't they show it? It's crucial and graphic video, just the sort of thing that you replay over and over...

Re: Sean Taylor Spitting Video
I like you (except for the dude from Scotland, and the down under guy.......and 5rings) am an AMERICAN. I am proud of America, and the American institution of football. It occupies a signifigant amount of my time. As we all know Football is a violent sport. Sometmes things get out of hand and the violence goes beyond the allowable "play". Not acceptable, but understandable. Take your penalty and be on your way with dignity, pride, intact.
Spitting on an opponent has NOTHING to do with the game. It's akin' to taking a shit on the field of play. Just NASTY!!!!!!!! I mean is that REALLY necessary. To an American (and I am sure everone else-rightly, or wrongly) it is an extreme sign of disrespect. NOT understandable and NOT acceptable. he deserves what he got and maybe more. I have tremendous respect for ST and the job he does. Definately one of my favorite dudes. Let's just say I am pissed off by this. He needs to pay the price for his indiscretion, learn from it and be done with it! Dude needs NO MORE trouble in his life.

Re: Sean Taylor Spitting Video
A friend of mine who authenticates videos, said that the video looks doctored. He told me to watch the film, check out how, the spitting section of the video comes up, the video breaks up into single frames, not regular slo mo. I am sure that some crappy website would have this visual proof, before ESPN or any other media outlet (thats saracasm).

Thanks for the conspiracy theory, but I'll side with the organization, not the thug. But that's all really beside the point - the important question is can you friend help us with the answer to Question #3?

Re: Sean Taylor Spitting Video
Guys, lets save all the legal/ethical debates for the offseason. I can't believe we are one win away from the conference championship game & here we are discussing someone's saliva. If he did it, he should be ashamed, if he didn't then he got screwed out of $17K, if the tape has been tampered with then someone has too much time on their hands. Either way, it changes nothing. Get past it...

Re: Sean Taylor Spitting Video
Just watching 'Sounds of the Game' on NFL Network and they had the referee Mike Carey wired for sound. He was all over Taylor right away. Another ref tried to lobby for offsetting fouls for Pittman's punch but was rebuffed by Carey. The other official responds "Are you sure Mike?" Carey then announces that there will be no flag for retaliation. Later, when Omar Stoutmire asks Carey why Taylor was ejected, Carey tells him that he spit on Pittman and nearly spit on him (Carey) as well. "That would have been really bad" says Carey. After watching that I have no doubt about what happened. Taylor was the spitter. If I am Gregg Williams I am not happy about being lied to either. Everyone makes mistakes but to lie about it is childish and reveals a lack of character. He put Williams in bad position.
Alot of the highlights were based around Mike Carey's being miked and I have to say that he did a great job in that game. If the league had 15 more like him Mike Perreira would have alot less explaining to do on Wednesdays.
