Re: Parcells and T.O

What happens is Springs covers TO with some safety help, Springs covers Glenn and our LBs are MORE than athletic enough to cover Witten. Our run support is top five easily, so there's really no worries there.

I think you guys will have a nightmare on your hands with Carter.

And honestly, I was watching some footage of Witten earlier, and Pro Bowl or not, he just really doesn't impress me. He has good hands, but it always seems like no one was covering him. Were his numbers good last year? I'm just wondering if people figured him out.

Whitten was the 7th rated TE, with 757 yds, and 6 TDs.

Cooley was the 6th rated TE, with 774, and 7 TDs.

Both are good. Cooley is better.

Stats courtesy of Yahoo! Sports.

It must just be the Skins games, but it always seems like he is a non-factor.

Re: Parcells and T.O

Witten was a Pro Bowl TE in 2004. He is the real deal. Your LB's can't cover him. The reason he is wide open is cause defenses cheat and try and cover him with a LB for more than 5 yards and he shakes them.

You can't cover any Top 10 TE with a LB. The new NFL TE is a set of skills that are difficult to handle, Big, Strong, Very Fast for their size with pass catching hands.

Whatever,
I don't want to go searching stats to prove this point. But Coaches dream of tricking defenses into LB one on one coverage with a top 10 TE.

Re: Parcells and T.O

Wittens offensive output suffered in 2005 not becasue of lack of production, but because of a rookie 6th rounder starting at RT and Adams ACL injury at LT.

Witten and Campbell were both kept in the backfield more oftern than not to help in pass protection, because of the lack of experience at the tackle postions on both sides of center. Remeber Dallas only has one FB on the roster who is primarily a special teams guy and was utilized sparingly on third downs. So the TE's were used as blockers, not receivers.

With a healty Adams and the addition of the seasoned Fabini, now Dallas will have the chance to put the TE's in pass routes and not on blocking assignments. In 2005 game films showed the opposition this and literally Dallas saw 8-man fronts on almost every play, since the TE's were kept in, that left only 2 or 3 guys for the secondary/LB's to cover.

With the ability to put Witten back in routes with a healthy O-line, now defenses will have to account for him and Owens as well as Glenn and Crayton. There is just no way D-coordinators can ignore this and will not show so many 8 or 9 mand fronts.

This will open up the run game a bit and the run game will set up the passing game.

Now I am not saying it will be the second coming of the greatest show on turf, but it should be more productive.

Re: Parcells and T.O

For those without run stopping ability, it might present a problem. I'm speaking on Skins only.
