Re: Clinton Portis Week 1 Injury watch

Ok, I started this thread, so I am going to somewhat hijack it for a moment. It is kind of on the same subject however. I have Portis, Warrick Dunn, Thomas Jones, and Ahman Green as my Fantasy Football RBs. I need to start 2 in Week 1, who do I start?

Ive got Portis, Ahman Green, Frank Gore, and Rudi Johnson. I can start 3. I didn't want Ahman Green in there cause he's up against that Bears Defense. At the same time Portis is questionable. I went with Portis.

Paul, If Portis is 50-50 by Sunday it scares me to start him, so I am like you and would probably go Dunn and Thomas, but if Portis plays, who would you pair with him, Thomas Jones @ the Packers or Dunn @ the Panthers?

Id take my chances with Thomas Jones @ the Packers, but that's because I respect the Panthers Defense more than the Pack's.

I'm benching Portis for either Bush or Betts week 1 because I don't see him playing much if any.

Re: Clinton Portis Week 1 Injury watch

Saw this on PFT who I generally trust to be accurate with this type of information:

POSTED 8:51 p.m. EDT, September 5, 2006

PORTIS IS EXPECTED TO PLAY MONDAY NIGHT

Although Redskins running back Clinton Portis missed another practice on Tuesday due to a shoulder injury suffered on the first drive of the team's first preseason game of the season, a league source with knowledge of the situation predicts that Portis will be suited up and ready to play against the Vikings on Monday night.

On August 13, Portis had a shoulder pop out of joint and then back in while making a tackle following an interception thrown by quarterback Mark Brunell. Portis hasn't played or practiced since the injury.

Also missing practice for the Redskins on Tuesday was cornerback Shawn Springs, who had surgery on August 15 to repair a torn abdominal muscle.

Re: Clinton Portis Week 1 Injury watch

Amorentz, I hope this info is right. I think we will all know a lot more by Saturday. I think I heard on Redskins.com yesterday from Larry Michael that the Skins will take today (Wednesday 9/6/06) off as far as practice goes and then hit the field for Thursday, Friday and Saturday work. The way REDSKINS.com gives daily reports, everyone will know by Saturday if Portis has practiced or not and will play. If he is 80-90%, I have to think he will play in a nationally televised opening game. Gosh! if you love the game at all you would play.

I picked almost all Skins my first time playing. By the end of the season, I made enough trades to win the last-place game in the consolation playoffs.

I don't advise it!

I thought I had a GREAT team too...I guess it was my Skins bias. I managed to trade the Ravens D to the last-place team for Edge James, so having him and Portis together for the last few weeks was GREAT. Other than that, I need to forget about that season.

of course, it's like stocks, you have to diversify, but i just can't personally care about any other team. i only look at other's stats in relation to the skins.

Fantasy football lets me get excited about a meaningless game like the Jets Titans game this weekend (L Coles is my 3rd WR). Besides, I do like other players on other teams who are not Skins......except those that have blue stars on their helmets!
