Absolutely. When you play football in the comfort of your bedroom or basement through an Xbox, how much perspective can you hope to have? Newsflash: In most NFL games, the final score isn't 77-10.

Re: Football was meant to be played indoors?
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Football IS an outdoor sport. It was created as such. Baseball blows ass in domes too. Cardnials Stadium here in Phoenix is one of the most sterile, non entities of a venue for football I've ever been to. Give me the old RFK, Ralph Wilson Stadium, Three Rivers, Lambeau any day. Can you imagine if Lambeau was indoors? How incredibly GAY and PANSYISH and PUSSYBOYISH would that be. Grow a pair there, chief. If you are going to brandish the "Alvin Walton" avatar, you need to live up to the steel gonad, kill em attitude that he possessed. Go ask him if he'd like to play indoors or out. Boom, roasted.

The Cardinals stadium is a great state of the art facility. Personally I don't mind if a team plays in a dome or not, so long as the stadium looks good. Personally the only stadiums remaining that really bother me are the Metrodome, Edward Jones Dome, and the Georgia Dome (which is ironic because in person the Georgia Dome isn't so bad, it's just that it doesn't really project well on TV). Ralph Wilson and the Coliseum seem like they've served their purpose but they still look nice on TV. The Superdome only looks nice during the Super Bowl, besides that it seems like a trashy stadium. I keep on hearing that Qualcomm stadium is terrible but it's another stadium that looks good on TV (probably due in part to the San Diego weather). Still I don't really have a preference when it comes to domed stadiums vs outdoor stadiums even though the only remaining stadiums that I'm really committed to having demolished are domes. Both have their uses depending on the market. Only thing I care about is weather or not the stadium is aesthetically pleasing when I watch games.

However, PROFESSIONAL Football is a Business. With that in mind, the venues have been changed to appeal to the fan. The NFL does not want to appeal only to the purist, but rather to the masses. And having indoor stadiums is only one of the ways they do that. |

Re: Football was meant to be played indoors?
Thank you CooleyFanOV, I have been saying the exact same thing for years on this sight. Godell and the NFL owners listen to fans that know nothing about football, suffer from ADD and do not understand the game fully. You have seen them, they talk and talk at a football party, barely pay attention and complain the the game is boring because there is not enough scoring. Then a team scores and they cheer because that is all they understand as good in a football game.
The subtle beauty in football like defense, running game, battle in the trenches, balanced attack. A one on one battle between lineman or LB vs. Rb is lost to them. The NFL is quickly becoming flag football where throwing the ball is almost on every down. Sad. The cold winter weather late in the season and in the playoffs is the only thing that is helping to keep some offenses balanced. The rules should be set NOT by a popularity contest or TV ratings. The majority of fans do not understand football fully. The players should have a bigger say in setting the rules, not some out of touch owner or coach that has never played the game. |
