We Redskins fans are quick to laugh at the perennially awful teams like Cleveland, Cincinnati, Detroit (no longer bad), St. Louis (also no longer terrible), etc. Guess what....we are part of that list until we can be a consistent playoff team.
You want the shit talk to stop.....start winning.
We have been embarrassingly bad at times in the last three years and when Spurrier was here. Add in all the embarrassing Snyderatto moments and it is safe to say we earned the shit talk.
Winning cures everything.
Plus..who really cares what others have to say about us.
Let's take care of our own business and punch some people in the mouth on the field this coming season.

I just really shocked that alot of the Redskins Hate is coming from former Redskins like I stated before ( Riggins, Lavar, BMitch) its like they have a ax to grind with Dan Synder. Its one thing to dislike the Owner but stop bashing the new coaching staff and players.

Yeah I mean that's pretty much /thread. I've stayed away from this thread since it was posted because, and no offense to the OP, it's a silly notion. Yes, the Cowboys get a ridiculous amount of hype from ESPN (although not so much so far this year), but why shouldn't we be heavily criticized?

People that get upset when we get rolled through the mud make me laugh. I mean sure, it hurts when a team you love gets blasted on a national stage, but why shouldn't we? We've been an utter embarrassment on and off the field since Snyder bought the team. Like Defenswins said, we're right there with the Lions, Browns, and Bengals of the world as an NFL bottom feeder. Gibbs 2.0 was a bit of an exception, but not much.

Until we field a winner and stop winning the "offseason superbowl" (the latter I think is already happening), we're gonna get drubbed by the media, and deservedly so.

Re: Redskins Hatters In The Media

What have the Redskins done since 2007 on the field that deserves praise? I'm sorry but we need to stop getting defensive over everyone that says anything bad about our team. The ONLY thing recently done by the Skins worthy of praise is how they've placed some emphasis on building in the trenches and through the draft. Going for semi-sexy moves but not the all out big splashes at this point in time.

To me JLC is the only one who deserves to be in this thread because some of the stuff he reports on NFLN just seems flat out false (still likes to refer to Snyder as the primary decision maker in football decisions). Other then that we deserve to get roasted in the media until we turn things around on the field. Trust me if I could somehow convince you or hypnotize you that the Skins were another NFC East team you would be all over how bad they were going to be.

Re: Redskins Hatters In The Media

wait, was I just offered the chance not to be called an a$$hole?

And yes I have heard them say good things about the Redskins, when deserved, sometimes even when not deserved. I've also heard others say good things about the team such as last year when Mike Greenberg (who really couldn't care less about the Skins) say he thought the Redskins would finish the season strong because they are a tough, hardworking team with a good core group of leaders who won't allow the team to simply quit.

Don't confuse a critique with hatred

It can sometimes get quite funky around here on game days, and the next day too when we don't play well.

I think there's some middle ground to both arguments. Yes winning will solve a lot. But at the same time, there are definitely those out there that are never happy no matter what. Or in other words they get paid to act that way and say over the top things.

Re: Redskins Hatters In The Media

To me it's like weather reports.

A meterologist could say "Today's high was 42 degrees. Yesterday those numbers could drop as a cold front moves in from the midwest. Those of you on the outskirts of Warpath County may see a few snow flakes during your morning commute, but with temperatures staying just above freezing we're not expecting much more than a dusting on the ground"

But most people just hear "Snow!!!"

Similarly, a sports media guy could say "The Redskins have removed some of the biggest distractions by trading McNabb and Haynesworth. And with guys like Orakpo and Williams they have the foundation to be good for several years to come. However, they chose once again not to address their QB situation and now have two journeymen 30 year olds battling out for a starting spot. Unless one of them surprises us, I don't see them winning too many games this year"

All we hear is "I don't see them winning"

Re: Redskins Hatters In The Media

I think all my teachers hated me back in the day because I used to get a lot of Bs

Quote:
ESPN's Post-Lockout Grades (Matt Williamson)

Washington Redskins

Key additions: Barry Cofield, Santana Moss, Josh Wilson, Stephen Bowen, Chris Chester, Jammal Brown (re-signed), Jabar Gaffney, Tim Hightower, Donte' Stallworth, Kellen Clemens
Key losses: Albert Haynesworth, Donovan McNabb, Carlos Rogers, Casey Rabach, Maake Kemoeatu, Phillip Daniels, Jeremy Jarmon, Vonnie Holliday

Analysis: I said on Twitter that if I were in charge of rebuilding the Redskins, I would have attacked the defense and put a few bandages on the offense -- making that next year's project and allowing coach Mike Shanahan to see what he could get from below-average offensive personnel. That is exactly what Washington did. Rebuilding this team is a huge project, and it couldn't all be done in one offseason.

Defensively, a key for the Redskins with the Cofield signing is Anthony Bryant, the big body needed for early downs at nose tackle who was quite impressive to finish the 2010 season. If that progression continues, Cofield can be used in many effective ways. If not, I don't expect him to be able to handle the pounding on the nose, which really isn't what he is equipped for.

Bowen is young and was extremely impressive for the Cowboys in limited snaps. Wilson isn't a well-known corner, but he excelled in Baltimore last season. It also can't be overlooked that Washington signed O.J. Atogwe before the lockout began. Atogwe is a terrific complement to LaRon Landry and should allow the Redskins' strong safety to really roam and make even more plays going forward. This secondary is much-improved.

Although I commend what Washington did on defense, I still don't fully understand why it needed to add so many new running backs and wide receivers with hopes that just a few of them step up. Outside of bringing back Moss, the wideouts and running backs are a jumbled mess. That situation needs to be sorted out.

Please don't limit it to just your teachers. I am sure the administrators, nurses, and support personnel hated you too. The janitor probably peed in your locker regularly.

It's probably b/c you wore to many Redskins hats and they were all Redskins' haters.

See how I circle round and close the loop? I am too clever and almost never hatted.

Re: Redskins Hatters In The Media

I think we deserved alot of criticism in the past but now I think we are moving in the right direction, and the media just looks at us as the easy target. You need to see the Steve Mariucci comments on the NFL network yesterday good stuff IMO.
