Re: The re-sign Orakpo thread
I think with the injury, we could possibly get him for 8 mil per year, more realistically 9 or 9.5, but 4 years 36-39 mil for Orakpo is a good deal. Unless he is wanting 10 mil per or more, sign him and keep your bookends intact, so that when we DO get a competent secondary, Our defense will finally look MUCH improved. I don't think he will command over 10 mil per year.
Yes he is the best we have. But there is no way he is top 5 at his position right now, just no way. He MIGHT scratch the top 10, but 10 mil per year is too much. Last edited by Mechanix544; 12-25-2013 at 05:45 PM. |

Re: The re-sign Orakpo thread
Orakpo isn't worth the what he's going to get paid. Unless he gives us a substantial hometown discount, I'm not interested.

Re: The re-sign Orakpo thread
And who do suggest we replace him with? Did u see what happened after got hurt against the cowboys? No pass rush and DeMarco Murray scores. He is the Redskins best pass rusher.

Re: The re-sign Orakpo thread
Big Hair wants a team full of back ups who over achieve on the field and get paid back up money. He wants a lot of draft picks. Like St. Louis have although these extra draft picks have not gotten them to the playoffs. He wants all NFL players to be paid less. He is an ideologue that wants the NFL returned to purity.

Re: The re-sign Orakpo thread
Hope y'all had a very merry Christmas.
Assuming we have new HC and DC, it'll be interesting what their "outside" perspective is on orakpo and his value. I think a 4-3 coach will see a ton of value in Rak and want to coach him into elite echelons. Regardless, I think we should up the best offer he gets by a bonus. He's earned it.

Re: The re-sign Orakpo thread
I want him back but it has to be reasonable numbers. When is the last time he came through with a pass rush in a big situation with a game on the line? It's hard to remember. He never developed the way I hoped he would. How much of that is playing him out of position...don't know.
Not sure if we can carry the number but I would almost rather franchise him and let him play 1 year in a 43 defense to establish his actual worth.

Re: The re-sign Orakpo thread
I agree that we shouldn't overpay but i think we should make him a fair offer and then the ball is in his court
The thing is he plays a position that is generally a highly payed position because edgerushers that can actually produce don't grow on trees. If we were to let him walk edge rusher becomes our number one need which we would probably have to overpay somebody to fill. See how that works? He's may not be in the elite class but he is well above average and i thought his play against the run and in coverage was much improved this year. Also if we change from a 3-4 to a 4-3 that could be a very good thing for his production. He has never been allowed to play a full time DE position in the NFL although when he was coming out in the draft most projected that to be his best position |

Re: The re-sign Orakpo thread
ive heard Vincent Rey brought up already. ROLB.. solid upside player from cincy in fact he was very active in that last wildcard even.
if we did release Orakpo i wouldnt be completly pissed if we replaced him with Rey to save some cap for more roster balace. But of course i want Orakpo back hes breaching elite form and he missed our playoff run in `12. We need him back. Him and DHall. I hope Hall takes a nice deal but hes coming off two solid years. Oraks gonna be pursued if we release with no immediate resig. i could see like the patriots with him already hes a smart LB any coach would take him 3-4 4-3 he could fit
