I wonder how many people actually read that full article.

Really explains the dynamic between Finlay and Russell, Finlay has always been well regarded whereas Russell is the tabloid reporter of the Skins world.

I think Finlay did a great job of explaining the differences between him and Russell. Obviously they are friends, share info, etc. but Finlay only reports the solid sourced stuff.

The key thing about the Geron Christian tidbit is Russell prefaces it with "I think". Seems easy to me that he is just saying his opinion without any sources to back it up.

I gotta wonder if that bit about 40 people leaving the Skins is true. It's no suprise the Redskins have had a rep for dysfunction in years. Smootsmack himself didn't want to work for the Redskins because he knew about the culture there. If what Russell is saying is true, nothing's really changed, and Bruce Allen is the epicenter of it all.

Chris Russell and Mike Florio - might as well know that it will be a full blown negative nelly report.

I live near Philly and the local sports radio stations are loyal as hell to the Eagles team, their players, coaches, and the owner. I guess it doesn't surprise me that the D.C. sports radio has been alienated by Snyder and his latest toadie, Bruce Allen. As with Vinny Cerrato, you just wonder how badly the team has to perform year-after-year, how badly the fans have to suffer over the last two decades before they get rid of this ass-clown, Allen, and make a change to a REAL FOOTBALL General Manager. Someone with some real NFL credibility.

I don't want loyal radio stations/reporters covering the Redskins, but I also don't want cry babies who exaggerate negative stories to get ratings.

That being said, people need to realize that there are a whole bunch of radio/podcast people in this area that are not journalist and what they do is not sports news IMO. This would be Russell, The Junkies, Grant Paulsen, Kevin Sheehan, Tom Loverro, etc., etc., etc. A lot of the stuff that they report is highly biased and opinionated. And if you are making your decisions/opinions on the team based on these guys, well you might as well get your Redskins news from anyone who posts here.

Craig Hoffman, recently posted something a long twitter thread about his criticism of news coverage nowadays, said the following which I feel is what we as fans should be getting from anyone who reports Redskins news:

"The stakes of what I cover are much, much lower but I will never go on one of our shows and simply say "Jay Gruden said (something)" and leave it there.

I will always add whatever else I know about the situation to evaluate the veracity of the statement and put it in context."

And that's what I want from the sports media, which is why I religiously follow Hoffman, Keim, JP and Michael Phillips. I don't feel like these guys are pulling things out of their assess like Russell does.

I'm 45 minutes from philly, and they are not loyal. You have goldfish syndrome right now. When a philly team is losing, the sky is falling and dysfunction in the media reigns supreme. They have a recent superbowl, so you arent remembering every other year when the radio stations are calling to have the team blown up. Shit man, even last year it was all about getting rid of Wentz in favor of a backup. Listen to philly talk about the flyers or the Phillies until they signed harper. And 3 short years ago the media would talk about how disappointed they were in the Sixers. Philly's fans and media (and I'm a Phil's and flyers fan) are some of the most dysfunctional in the country. They werent a good reference point......

Re: Is the End Near For Bruce Allen?

This whole thing is stupid. Does Russell not remember that Brian Lafemina was fired by Snyder at the end of the season when attendance tanked? You would expect a lot of turnover in the business office when the lead business office executive is let go.

There’s a lot you can point to with regards to failings of Bruce Allen but this doesn’t make any sense.

Re: Is the End Near For Bruce Allen?

Bruce Allen's record ON THE FIELD doesn't justify his being kept on in his position. He's aways managing players as if the Redkskins are just one player from becoming elite. I think he's happy if the team goes 8-8 because he's convinced Snyder that if we're playing .500 football we're really close to turning the corner. Allen thinks that he can't be fired for an 8-8 season. Under his "leadership", the Redskins have been mediocre-average. The team needs to get a REAL General Manager and rebuild to get to the next level. Allen will accept average if it just gives him another year.

Bruce isn't going anywhere until Bruce is ready to go. As fans, we have to live with it. Bruce is here as long as he wants.

Agreed! His name is what got him the job and he's being kept around to get Snyder a stadium. Snyder hasn't figured out that if the Redskins had a good team that might help them get a stadium.

And what did his father do? Mortgage the future by trading draft picks for old guys, it wasn’t until Bobby Beathard righted the ship.

Allen never had a losing season (67-30-1), worst record was 8-6 and went to the super bowl. Pretty damn good actually. ()

Beathard was only the GM from 78 to 88. He only used 3 first round pick in that time (Monk, May and D. Green). In Fact, the combination of Vince Lombardi, George Allen, Bobby Beathard and Charley Casserly only used three 1st round picks from 69 to 90. Those three were all great picks. Point is maybe it was a JKC modus operandi to trade up and down the board not a GM here or there.

I would agree Allen isn't going anywhere. Dan needs someone to be buddies with. He needs someone who he can hide behind and Allen's the perfect guy. The rails would have to completely fall of for Dan to fire him.
