Re: 2022 off season thread part 1
Listening to Richmond reporter Michael Phillips on Sheehan…he is right, it’s time to go big for QB. Rodgers, Wilson, Watson.
U make a big offer.

Re: 2022 off season thread part 1
Or NY. Wilson likes Carroll Giants don't want the Watson drama and frankly they can't afford any of them. Giants are in a bad CAP space for next season but as of right now will be #1 in cap space in 2023. Maybe draft a QB in one of the later rounds. Giants as of now have 11 picks , two of which are #1's(Bears)

Question.
You guys know football better than I. Is the Gibbs Paradigm dead? That is, can you not win with, let's say, a Mark Rypien behind a titanic O-line like the fabled Hogs? |

Re: 2022 off season thread part 1
I'd say the chances of getting a top 10 QB are considerably better than trying to recreate an all time great OL.

It would be interesting to see the run/pass break down for the 90s NFL vs the 2020s NFL. It seems like the NFL in the 90s was still a run-first league but that could be a misconception. I think its harder to keep sacks low these days because teams pass more and now the high paid defense players are CBs and DEs who are pass stopping specialists. In the 90s defense was designed to stop the run, today they are designed to stop the pass. You are correct, getting 5 elite pass blockers is very hard. Bottom line this team needs a QB to compete in the modern NFL. |

Re: 2022 off season thread part 1
Offensive lines seem easier to build nowadays.
QBs are much more mobile. Offensive coordinators seem to be able to get their primary reads open Offensive schemes seems to be quick pass concepts and screens, screens and more screens neutralizing a pass rusher Big guys are more athletic and plentiful. Theres always decent to good OL avail in FA age 28 and older |

Re: 2022 off season thread part 1
WFT QBs were sacked over 40 times this year.
I think neither is really that easy to acquire - a top 10 QB / or an elite OL. Anyway, they complement each other. An OL can make the QB look better, and vice versa. I'd put my efforts toward finding that top 10 QB, before trying to put together five O linemen that are all - say - top 10 at their position. |
