I wonder if Snyder understands that there is a level of humanity that exists within the world of sports, in the locker room and on the field, and that it needs to be recognized for the sake of "chemistry." The way he goes about doing things, mistreating players and coaches, throwing continuity out the window, dismissing the wishes of his players, buying expensive players as though they are nothing more than pieces on a chessboard, it all leads me to believe that he sees his football team like he sees a business, and that the players and the coaches are nothing more than lifeless commodities, assets that can be viewed through calculation and market measurement, and nothing else. For many of his years as owner the team has underachieved, many times drastically; I don't mean that they haven't been good, I mean they did not perform to the expectations of just about everyone. They underachieve. Why? Perhaps they don't have the will to win, and why should they? They've never been assembled as a conducive unit, but rather as pieces being fit into a flawed machine, the design of which is the brainchild of Danny and Vinny, created in their dark little secretive rooms, sheltered from criticism and reason. The players are not viewed as teamates, but as investments, and the coaches not as leaders but as computers, or control systems. Who cares what the players want, or the fans for that matter? Dan and Vinny will just continue down this road which, for nearly a decade now, how produced little else other than embarrassment and humiliation. And they will continue to do so privately, because deep down inside they know they are f*ck-ups, or else they wouldn't be so surreptitious about everything they do. Oh, and before anyone responds with "Poor Dan Snyder, no matter what he does, he can never win," yeah, you're damn right. He can't win. That is why many of us are continually critical of him. He can never win, nor will he ever be humble enough to make the adjustments necessary for him, and the Redskins, to win. Eff him. |

And streamlining a staff that was riddled with associate head coaches and assistant head coaches isn't necessarily a bad thing. I liked the idea of Williams as head man, but the more I think about this potential structure- Fassel, Ryan, Zorn- the more I think it could be okay.

We lost Gibbs...the "continuity" and "chemistry" is irrelevant. Initially I was against the Fassel over Williams choice....but Fassel steering the ship, Ryan coaching D and the ?Seattle guy calling the offense, it might work. Dallas did a VERY similar thing and won 13 games. That being said, this could be a disaster. Its Snyder's world, we're just living in it.

The Giants have 19 coaches on staff. The Patriots 14. We had 21. Now that Joe is gone, who is to say that Gregg wouldnt clean up the coaching roster some.

It's pretty obvious Danny understands that good QBs are the key piece to a consistent playoff team. More than one "league expert" thinks Jason Campbell has all the tools necessary to be a pro-bowl QB. Fassel played QB in college, developed Simms and Elway, and went to a super bowl with Kerry Cocktail at the helm. Zorn was a good QB himself in Seattle and has developed Hasselbeck into a perennial pro-bowler. No doubt Danny is trying to making sure Jason has the best tutelage possible. I just hope he's right about axing Saunders.

What is everyone going to say if we find out Joe Gibbs was involved in some form with this hiring?

Yeah, if that is truly the case, then they might as well just leave Gregg Williams here. Let him have a crack at it for a season and see how he does. That way, there aren't two huge coaching turnovers in two straight seasons.

If that ever came out, I would lose a lot of respect for Gibbs. Williams was arguably the team's best coach during Gibbs 2.0. If not for his defense keeping the team in most every game, the last 4 years would have been an utter failure.

Man, I never thought of it that way. What would Gibbs 2.0 have looked like with anyone but Gregg Williams running the D? Scary thought. Very scary. |

I understand what you are saying here but there are many coaches that have been great coordinators that could not get it done as a head coach. If Gibbs felt this way about Williams then that could have possibly swayed the final decision here.

I don't want any of these guys. We are on the brink of being a top NFC team and to blow it all up it just really stupid.

Re: Fassel, Ryan and Zorn, oh my!
I am sorry, but I don't see how this is a good move for us. We are getting rid of a coaching staff that made the playoffs and now they are being replaced by guy who hasn't been in coaching in four years, hasn't had any offers and was fired from his last job as O-Coordinator of the worst offense in the league. I guess when you try to run your sports team like a business, this is what you get. I guess dan and vinny are ideating.
