The play I was referring to didn't matter in the end cuz Brady got the pass off, but it really showed how players can beat the O-line without having to bullrush. A spin or a juke wouldn't hurt either.
That lean is a nice thing to be able to do, but not everyone can rush like that. I just don't think that's Rak's game.

True, but I think Rak would be more effective if he wasn't just a one trick pony. He does that one trick pretty well, but he's always had his days where all you see is him getting stoned by a stronger, bigger tackle, or getting held by the neck, which obviously we can't count on to be called anymore.

He's going to have to diversify his arsenal at some point if he wants to be amongst the elite rushers in the game.

This. He'll never be in the same category as D.Ware unless he can change things up, especially in terms of the angled lean you mentioned.

 Damn autocorrect.

Matty I know I'm picking on his game a little too much, but I just want to see him stop disappearing from games is all. He's still a damn good pass rusher, I just want to see his name start getting more recognition from around the league.

Your autocorrect thought that "billfish" was a better choice than "bullrush"? lmao. Like people use the word "billfish" all the time.

Obviously your iphone is simply trying to bring innovation to the English language by increasing the use of "billfish."

"Grossman billfishes to Armstrong for a touchdown!"
"Coach Shanahan billfished the team with a rousing halftime speech."
"Personal foul. Billfish. 15 yard penalty and an automatic first down."

He's made the Pro Bowl 2x, I think everyone is well aware of him. Just because he didn't get a sack didn't mean he had a quiet game. He had plenty of pressure and blocked the FG.

Honestly I feel like his sacks come in spurts. In the entire second half of the season last year he had like 1 sack, and that was after an excellent first half with like 7. That's not consistent.

He's a good pass rusher but we might see Kerrigan start getting more recognition because Kerrigan has more moves that he can use to beat the tackle. Which isn't a bad thing of course.

Also on a side note did anybody else notice at the end of the game that Orakpo and Kerrigan were playing DE in a 4-3 and they shifted Carriker to the inside on that sack he had? Now that's something I think we can all agree on is a good move.

He's not consistent because he hasn't developed any other moves (or learned to use his hands) since coming into the league. They need to bring in Kevin Greene (who worked with Clay Matthews) to coach this guy up right.

He was also battling through a sprained ankle. He wasn't 100%.

I think he's doing fine as is. We might be picking on his game a little too closely.

Re: Scud's Studs Week 1 (Giants at Redskins)

I picked Moss.

It was a tie between him and Grossman for me. Davis was another close pick. However in the end although I was extremely happy Davis stepped up his game, I figured this is what he was supposed to be all along. Which is why we drafted him in the 2nd round. I'm still bewildered as to why he was left uncovered so many times. It's like the defense didn't have a plan for him or figured he wouldn't do much because he hasn't in the past.

As for Orakpo being quiet, I'm of the belief he was being held more often then not. Why the refs wouldn't call it I don't know.

Grossman could have gotten my pick but I just had a feeling he would have a good game. Just like I figured the team would win the first game.

What really stood out to me was Moss, and believe me I've been a critic of him lately. He stepped up when no other WR was stepping up. He made a play everytime when one was needed and others were not getting the job done. So my pick went to him this week.

As for Flether and Kerrigan, I felt they were doing their jobs. I know the pick and TD by Kerrigan was nice, but lets see another one this week and I'll give him my pick for week 2.

Re: Scud's Studs Week 1 (Giants at Redskins)

After watching Aaron Hernandez last night, I don't see any reason why Fred Davis can't contribute to that effect week in and week out. Sure Grossman is no Brady, but like Hernandez, Davis is a matchup nightmare. Too fast for LBs to cover, too big for DBs to cover.

As athletic as Davis is, Hernandez actually looks and runs like a wr. That guy might be the fastest TE in the NFL. I want to see more of Davis though. No disrespect to Cooley but he's just not the red zone threat that Davis can be. I think it's his time now.
