Also, this is a business first off. If Danny and company just said F it and dropped every good player we had be tough to sell. The general public doesn't like to hear we are in a re-building stage; really puts some pressure on your marketing department. Garcon, Morris, etc... they are the few stars we have folks want seem then and will pay to do so. You got at least maintain a level of hope that this might be a good team in 2015.

Our WR corps is sound.
Leave it alone. We got way too much other crap to fix.

I don't get cutting Garçon. I'm 100% on board with the rebuild and all. But he's one of our best players. Who steps in to take his place? The guys behind him are not even competent.

Plus when Garcon has a capable QB throwing him the ball he is a great WR. I would rather keep him at this time. Garcon is not the problem. |

Re: Who should we go for in Free Agency?
i like garcon. i really like d jax.
but our percent of cap tied to WR is very high and among the highest in the NFL. garcon is not the problem. but being cap heavy with WR on a team with several starter holes is a problem. its a tough decision imo.

Re: Who should we go for in Free Agency?
It is not ideal but if we are really building this team through the draft with a full complement of draft picks (finally a #1) the pricier/deadweight/not worth their salary type players like Orakpo will be eventually be replaced and gone soon, opening up more cap space.
I do not think Garcon falls in that category because when playing with a real NFL QB he is still great receiver and an excellent/physical blocker which is what i really like about him. DB's have to have their heads on a swivel when he is around. I say we suck it up and keep him. |

Re: Who should we go for in Free Agency?
This is from Rich Tandler's column of today:
"...This is going to make people mad so I’ll get it out of the way right off the bat—the coaching staff does not believe that the offensive line is the five-alarm dumpster fire that most fans seem to believe it is. Yes, there were too many sacks but the blame for many of them was on the quarterbacks, particularly Robert Griffin III and Colt McCoy, and the tight ends and running backs. As far as running the ball, they averaged 4.2 yards per carry, which is the NFL average." With this in mind, we probably should start taking a closer look at big TE's and RB's who can pass-protect when speculating on which FA's and draft-eligible players the Skins might go after.

Re: Who should we go for in Free Agency?
We should calculate how many times open recievers weren't thrown to to get more of an idea of garcons value to the team. I do not want to see him go. Didn't he have something like a 60 yard run off a screen pass or check down last year? Why would anyone want to get rid of a legitimate threat? If a team is 're building, are they supposed to get rid of players that sure up a position to create another need?

Re: Who should we go for in Free Agency?
The OL is only a four alarm dumpster fire, I guess.
It doesn't matter what we think should be done in FA and the draft. It's a matter of what the coaches and the GM think. I'm just suggesting that they may look to upgrade at TE and RB.

Blocking by the TE's and backs was definitely a significant issue last year.

Re: Who should we go for in Free Agency?
Tandler says not a dumpster fire but alludes to replacing the right side of the line...huh? Replacing 2 starters says a lot about what the coaching staff thought of last years Oline.

Re: Who should we go for in Free Agency?
At the most we could be looking at 2 new starters on the OL. Not exactly the sweeping changes some think there should be.
