I really don't want players on that level coming in early for OTAs.

Reed is not on their level. Not a surprise he is injured.

Re: Redskins Off Season things.

trent couldn't get a flight out of houston (flooding), DJax was excused and will be there next week, reed is hurt, tracy porter missed his flight.

just in case anyone was wondering why they weren't there.

Re: Redskins Off Season things.

He’s not yet a full participant after his Lisfranc injury.

^^ this is from the article Alvin Walton posted on the last page re Morgan Moses.

i thought Moses would be out until mid season. This is very early. Doesnt mean anything as he has not tried to give it a go yet and is probably just standing around .. but that is good surprising news to me.

re Reed - i think this guy is soft for a football player. he needs to learn the diff btw "in pain" vs injured. he is a GM nightmare. high potential you want to keep around but if he cant stay on the field he is not even a 0, he is a negative. a waste of a roster spot and clogs the development of his replacement TEs.

tracy porter can go fuck himself. sorry for the language but fuck that guy. Mods if I need to edit i will. i apologize again.

Observations from Tuesday’s Redskins offseason practice session - The Washington Post

"Griffin continues to work closely with quarterbacks coach Matt Cavanaugh. After each play, Cavanaugh was in Griffin’s ear. Jay Gruden stood off to the side (a change from last season, where he often instructed Griffin between plays), and offensive coordinator Sean McVay would then give Griffin the next play call after the quarterback’s chat with his position coach."

^^ the WaPo article is a pretty in depth look at the OTA yesterday.

taking more off gruden's plate is a good thing imo. the less direct talk btw gruden and RG3 = less chance they grow tired of each other and RG3 tunes him out.

Re: Redskins Off Season things.

Chester and Porter gone. I believe that is 6.8M in cap savings.

Chester needed to go. At his best, he was never more than "Just a Guy" and was declining from that. Last year, he was barely an effective starter (and often not even that) and was clearly just a placeholder until the he could be replaced. With Long, LeRibeus (who may have one foot out the door) and the new 4th rounder (K something something), it was time to cut ties. Nothing personal, never heard anything about him off the field one way or another. I get the feeling that he just showed up did his job as best he could do and just kept plugging.

Porter was a waste. I think he was on the field for about ten snaps. Absolutely no loss there. Complete and utter waste of space.

It is indeed....heartening to me that we have FINALLY begun bringing "talent" that we do not need guys like this further.
NOTE: no disrespect intended for the guys....let go

Re: Redskins Off Season things.

We've shed a fair amount of older weight this offseason. A lot like we did in 2011. Though we have added a fair amount of quality younger talent to replace the guys who we've let go.

Jordan Reed had a “procedure” on his knee | ProFootballTalk

we know how these small procedures end up with Reed usually...him missing significant time

Re: Redskins Off Season things.

Man, Reed is just one of those guys who can't seem get onto or, once there, stay on the field. Tons o' talent as a receiver, but simply unreliable to be available from game to game.

Re: Redskins Off Season things.

I am also starting to think his own injury concerns (his own mental state of mind) is why he can't block. For one he doesn't practice enough to get it right and two he is worried about hurting himself during the game and doesn't give blocking his all to avoid getting injured.

This dude is a waste. He hadn't done enough to help us win and he can't stay healthy enough to make his game better. Yeah I love the way he can fight for the first down but he is such a liability in the running game.

keep in mind Reed is a former QB who played TE for two years in college

And the passing game. He whiffed on at least a couple of sacks last year.

Re: Redskins Off Season things.

Reed is probably never going to be a guy that can line up for 16 games. Plus he's useless when it comes blocking. Just doesn't seem to be a SM type of player. Talented guy though.
