He's getting in despite your good argument. Last name 'Manning', the so-called 'First Family or Football'. He would get in with 1 ring. |

Re: Around the NFL Week 2
I agree. In Baltimore the local sports media has a consensus that his in the HOF just not a first ballot but I am not sold. He had several good years but played in the Peyton, Brady, Brees, Rodgers era.

Re: Around the NFL Week 2
His career INT numbers have to compare really poorly to others who are in the HOF. I haven't looked at the numbers, just going off gut.

David Diehl @davediehl66 Eli has as many postseason wins 8 as Steve Young. His 106 completions in the 2011 postseason are the MOST @nfl history. Has 5 game winning drives in his postseason career, as many as Montana had & one more than Bradshaw. Eli’s 4- 4th quarter playoff comebacks are as many Elway had and there is this............. 2x SB MVP 2x SB Champ 6th all time in completions 7th all time in pass yds 8th all time in pass tds 3k yds in 15 consecutive seasons, and 7 of those were over 4k yds ONLY QB to win at Lambeau 2x in the post season ONLY QB to beat an undefeated team in the SB ONLY QB to beat Brady and the pats 2x in the SB Giants ALL TIME leader passing YDS, TDS, and Completions NFC EAST ALL TIME Leader in passing YDS TDS, and Completions Most passing yards in a single post season If you ask me his resume looks pretty good

Re: Around the NFL Week 2
Check out this list. Look for the bolded names, those are the active QBs. Look where Eli ranks among them, among the worst who played long enough to qualify.
We're in an age where if you're getting 2.5% or more of your passes intercepted, it's not good. Eli is at 3.0%. Aikman and Marino were both at 3.0% too but they played in a downfield era. Their 3.0% was very good compared to the peers of their era. By comparison, Steve Young and Joe Montana were 2.6%. Andy Dalton is a career 2.6% guy in this era. 3.0% from Eli should keep him out, in my opinion. https://www.pro-football-reference.c...erc_career.htm

Eli is a HOF QB but not first ballot

I don't think Namath gets in if he plays now. He was a star in the AFL and at the time an important piece of the pie to the merger.

Re: Around the NFL Week 2
He was basically beat to hell and a physical wreck by the time he hit 27. The way they protect QBs now he might have stayed at his peak a lot longer.

With all the injuries Kaepernick's agent is calling teams and of course left wing media outlets are ripping into them for not signing him. They all seem to ignore the fact he was exposed as a one hit wonder by defenses long before he started kneeling. He also had a lot of other issues besides the kneeling. He has been out of the league for 2 years+. Jimmy Garapolo took the team Kap was 1-10 with and finished up the next year 5-0. What does that tell you? The guy isn't very good. He is in the Sanchez and JJ class, but the USA Today's of the world build him up. |
