Oh dude, Giants fans are straight fellatating themselves over this. They think because they got over-the-hill Sam Madison and about 1000 new CBs that their defense is going to be a lot better.

HAHA!

Again, Giants fans LOVE the thought of having a Manning on their team. He was better than he was his first year, but talk about dropping off. I don't think he's going to be ANY better than he was last year. He'll never be what his brother is.

Luckily, Brunell can move a lot better than Aikman, who at that time was already watching stars and little birdies fly around his head. He probably never saw Lavar coming.

It was a great hit, but Aikman wasn't altogether there upstairs at that point in his career. They kept saying "one more hit and he's done."

Well, our team supplied that hit. Brunell would survive, if not get away. He's not the runner he used to be, but he's still good at ducking...as he showed us at key times last year.

Giants | Agent says contract terrible for Arrington
Mon, 24 Apr 2006 17:59:58 -0700

Paul Schwartz, of the New York Post, reports an agent with knowledge of New York Giants LB LaVar Arrington's contract said the contract from Arrington's point of view is terrible. His $5.25 signing bonus is virtually inconsequential when pro-rated over seven-years and the roster bonuses over the first two years are based on playing time.

Packers | Favre tried to talk Arrington into Green Bay
Tue, 25 Apr 2006 07:47:57 -0700

Tom Silverstein, of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, reports Green Bay Packers QB Brett Favre tried to talk LB LaVar Arrington into signing with the Packers, according to a Washington Times report. Arrington told the newspaper that Favre nearly swayed him to accept an offer from Green Bay that was thought to be for more money than what the New York Giants offered. One of Arrington's agents, Kevin Poston, confirmed that Arrington didn't take the best offer on the table, telling the Newark Star-Ledger that one of the teams offered slightly more, although he declined to name the team. Packers' general manager Ted Thompson said he had no knowledge of Favre playing a role in recruiting Arrington.

LaVar wasn't going to get it done here - there was too much baggage for him created by his erratic behavior. And he just couldn't submerge his interests into the team's interests in terms of playing within the scheme. This was always a problem with him.

I hope he gets it together in New York. It will be interesting to see how that plays out.
Why would Greg Williams have a plan for him? Wouldn't Saunders be the one planning? We will see what kind of impact he will have for the Gints, bad thing is, it will be twice a year.

Re: Lavar and Giants agree on deal

"Poston said Green Bay, Jacksonville and Miami all were in the running for the 27-year-old Arrington. But in the end, he said, his client decided that he wanted to play against Washington twice a season"

That to me is enough to really really hope that he gets shut the hell down next season. What an arrogant move.

Re: Lavar and Giants agree on deal

Why are a lot of people out here so bitter about LaVar signing with the skins. If you are under some sort of delusion of loyalty here, you need to wake up. This sport, any sport for that reason, is not about loyalty. Its about the cash, and the opportunity to win. This situation is no different. He may have turned down more money, but took the job with the better opportunity to win. Jacksonville, they are ok, but I think the Giants are in front of them in terms of winning, Green bay , Miami , come on they are a few years away. Plus, every one is Washington said he couldn't play, over rated so why not go some where that gives you the chance to prove all your doubters wrong. This just shows the guy has the drive to compete in an awesome division, and the competative spirit to want to stick up our rear ends twice a year. I think some of you are actually worried that he is going to be a game changer for the G-Men, especially against us. I am worried about playing him, He has that kind of capability. I would imagine Saunders has something in mind all ready. Stop bashing the guy for wanting to prove people wrong. Its people like you that said he was over rated, lost a step, better without him that he is trying to show he still has it. All the times some one told you that you couldn't do something, what did you do. Piss and moan, or go and prove them wrong? ME? I proved them wrong!!

I won't deny I'm a little worried about him. However, I wish only bad things for him when he plays us.

You also have to think in non-football terms. I think a lot of it also has to do with the relative proximity of being near Washington, his hometown of the past six years and Pittsburgh, his childhood home. So it's a relatively small move. Plus, we all know LaVar loves a camera. You know he was thinking about what a great media opportunity it's going to be for him to play in the Big Apple.

I'll miss Lavar. When he said he watches Conan: The Barbarian before every game I knew there was something special about him. Few people could match his intensity. He may have played out of postion but he still tried to play at his highest physical level every time. His playmaking ability endeared himself to the fans as well as his good-natured disposition.
