he's got 40000 excuses and no answers. i was ready to ditch him after preseason with how he was trashing his own team's players in the media. ince then the offense has been terrible too, which hasn't helped his cause - even though its not just his fault.

We all know the truth. Now that MB is benched, we are totally out AND have no chance.

....
that implies that continuing to start MB would have kept us in or given us a chance. At 3-6, i'd contest the validity of that kind of thinking.

i don't, but when i see reasoning i don't understand, i question it. if you have any logic or reason behind why you think brunell, with his ineptness and his mighty 3-6 record, would keep us in contention with this defense, i'd sure as hell like to hear why, instead of yet another attempt to sidestep the issue.

Well, no one would keep us in contention with this defense. Some people have "noticed" an improvement from the defense in the last two games. I personally haven't seen it, but if there truly was an improvement, then it was a really was a bad time to bench MB.

At this point, I don't think the D is going to get it turned around anytime soon (that includes next season), so now is as good a time as ever to play Campbell, I guess.

Re: CP broken hand

The defense improved slightly in the last two games, no one has shutdown mcnabb, and brunell was responsible for that one TD. Andre Carter is looking much better out there as well. The big problem is carlos rogers and the DTs, that's where teams throw and run every time. They all have us scouted.

Scout's honor, Brunell has issues
More than one scout I've talked to believes the Washington Redskins are in trouble, largely because they don't like what they're seeing from quarterback Mark Brunell.
It's not only that he's not completing passes; it's that he's so nervous in the pocket he's not giving plays a chance to unfold. The results are plain to see: Washington has one offensive touchdown in two losses.
"This is not the Kansas City Chiefs' offense," said one NFC scout. "It looks more like (offensive coordinator) Al Saunders running Joe Gibbs' offense. I just finished watching them and the thing that stood out to me is that Brunell's not stepping forward when he throws. Everything is off his back foot, like he's nervous.
"He always was good at feeling the pressure, but now he's bailing out of the pocket early. It's almost as if he can't wait to get out of there."
The problem for Washington is that it staked its offense to Brunell. Second-year pro Jason Campbell is the quarterback the Redskins drafted as his successor, but there's no reason to believe he's ready to step in and take over. Plus, Gibbs is reluctant to play inexperienced players, particularly at the quarterback position.
Bottom line: If Washington is going to make a run at the playoffs again it better find a way -- and fast -- of making Brunell relax in the pocket.

Bam Bam!
