Jason Reed needs to retire. The fact that he is still in concussion recovery is a critical indication that he should never play again. The Redskins can not resign him.

Redskins Salary Cap Status - 2020

I think he will be dropped very soon, so that he has the most opportunity to find a position with another team. Although many ppl think that Jason is making a huge mistake by not retiring, he may be picked up by another team in a one year deal. Not worth the money he will receive, but he is making this decision.

I’d be surprised if Jason Reed ISN’T dropped by the Redskins with the next week or so. His $8.5 mill in cap savings will go to pay for signing Hooper in FA.

Jason Reed was the favorite of former Redskins coach Jon Gruden. The Kurt Cousins to Jason Reed connection was deadly in 2015.

I was writing so fast I was thinking Jordan but writing Jason. I should speech write for Bruce Allen!! lol

Anyway, JORDAN Reed is gone. I really liked him, but he could never stay healthy. I guess it doesn't surprise me that Bruce would bet the entire team's success last year on Reed, even with all his injuries. BA was always counting on guys who couldn't finish a season.

I was really hoping Jordan could come back last year. I was a little surprised that he played in the Pre-Season and that hit was just a cheap shot.

Original post updated to reflect the release of TE Jordan Reed. Thank you Jordan! You were fun to watch when you were healthy and on top of your game.

Would have been a hof’er if he stayed healthy. His offensive production was on course to break all sorts of TE records. Real shame. Hope he stays healthy in his retirement.

Original post updated to reflect some accounting cleaned up. Tress Way's extension actually doesn't affect his 2020 cap number at all, the extension goes into effect in 2021. Some other true ups completed to stay in sync with Over The Cap, who deserves tremendous credit for staying on top of the cap situations of every team in the NFL.

Yeah holmes if you just read the OP it says we have $61M in space now, and we could tag Scherff and sign Flowers and still have $40M left. We should do some damage in free agency.

Started scrolling back didn’t see the numbers, but even if i had im not sure how much is alot. Remember you are dealing with some people who do not work well with numbers. We need help. Lol. Who the fuck would have thought flowers would be a priority but as a Cane Alumn and Skins fan hell yeah. So 40 mill sounds like enough to address some serious needs.

Do we need to do damage in FA? I'm all about trying to find value in the market. Is there someone out there being underutilized by their last team or someone who was stuck behind someone better who hasn't gotten the chance to prove themselves yet?

I know we have to pick up at least 1 veteran TE with the emphasis Scott Turner puts on them, but I'm passing on anybody looking for a payday.

Damage is relative. You have to sign the right people no matter what the strategy is. If you sign 2 big dogs, gotta hit on no worse than 1. Sign 5 solid dudes, better hit on at least 3.

I'm not against either strategy if done properly. I'm gonna give Smith and Rivera the benefit of the doubt with the strategy this off season, including FA and draft.

I do want Hooper though if anywhere near reasonable to get hm.

Yeah it doesn't need to be top of the market free agent guys, it can be multiple $5M per year type guys. We have many needs, I hope they fill as many as possible. When I say do damage, I just mean spend our available resources. I don't want to see any bullshit Bruce Allen style leaving cap space on the table.

Their engines are enough to scare the crap out of you let alone their guns. Was in the Rhine valley on a trip in 81, and they flew all the time. You couldn't mistake the sound of them flying down the valley towards you!
