You're right. He is not obligated to turn them over. Since he didn't, however, the NFL (since they're not doing a criminal investigation) is free to assume he's lying or hiding incriminating information and act accordingly.

If it doesn't make a difference then why the flying F is there a rule about it, and why does the NFL go to the lengths to have the head ref test the ball pressure 2 hours before the game and then keep the balls under the watchful eye of an official until minutes before kickoff? Seriously your critical thinking skills are impaired.

Re: All things off season 2015.
I'm amazed at the number of people who are comparing cheating to breaking the law.
They're entirely different things. It's like comparing oranges and zebras. Breaking the law, like domestic violence hurts the league's image. Cheating to gain an advantage playing football games hurts the ACTUAL PRODUCT that the league is selling. The response has to be entirely different.

Re: All things off season 2015.
look, first, i think some people are still under the assumption this was a one time thing, and not something that had been going on for 3+ years. Some article mentioned the patriots fumble rate vs league average, which could be considered an unfair advantage.
second, brady made two mistakes. 1. he got caught, and 2. he lied about it. this also isn't the first time the pats have been caught doing something shady. |

I'm not going to get into name calling with you Schneed. Kind of immature thing to do. You seem like the kind of guy that thinks he's the smartest person in the room. We'll agree to disagree. |

You seem to completely disregard the whole thing about the Patriots being repeat offenders.

If the Redskins had done this, opinions would be very different around here. I would believe they would be similar to the way I feel about it.

Re: All things off season 2015.
The Patriots organization was long overdue for a hard kick in the pants for actively promoting creative cheating from the top down for many years. They practically made cheating an art form. On top of the that, the lying, arrogant rat-bastards thought they could stonewall the investigation of their latest cheating scandal because Tom Brady thinks he's bigger than the game and Bob Kraft thought he had Roger Goodell in his pocket.
I really don't care that the punishment was instigated by the act of deflating footballs or if it had come from washing towels at the wrong temperature. This was simply the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back. Haven't we all known someone who needed a good ass-kicking and finally got it? Whether or not the punishment was fair, it was needed.

Re: All things off season 2015.
Forget the Pats fumble rate. Look who's at the bottom! It's our own Washington Redskins. Sheesh!
