Wow... please o please, let this guy be dropped for a guy we sign. Williams dropped many passes in the preseason and really had nothing to contribute. he was covered most of the preseason by others teams 2s or 3s. That will not work.

Well with the updated list we only have 7 more to go.

BTW we are probably 2 hours and 15 minutes away from finding out where VJ will play this season.

Brandon Banks, Devin Thomas make the cut

As more names continued to creep out as to which players did not crack the Redskins' 53-man roster, the news might stand more with some of the players who did make the team.

Undrafted free agent wide receiver Brandon Banks made the final roster, a league source confirmed.

The Free Lance-Star and 106.7 The Fan originally reported that the undersized returner had made the team, proving that Banks's speed and big-play ability outweighed the risks of some of the shaky moments he had in the preseason.

Banks returned a punt 77 yards for a touchdown in the Redskins' preseason opener but also fumbled three times, losing one. In the finale on Thursday against the Arizona Cardinals, Banks returned the opening kickoff 40 yards but later fumbled a punt. He recovered the fumble.

Third-year wide receiver Devin Thomas also made the roster. In a text message to a Post reporter, Thomas wrote, "I'm good."

Rookie G/C Erik Cook was released, according to a league source, but has also been targeted as a practice-squad candidate should he clear waivers.

Darrel Young, who originally signed with the Redskins in 2009 as a linebacker, has made the team as a fullback, according to 106.7 The Fan, which also reported that rookie safety Anderson Russell was released but could join the practice squad.

Tryon had enough value to be traded to a legitimate SB contender? Who would have thought?

I really like Young making the squad. He did some really good stuff in the preseason and maybe a long term solution to FB after Sellers retires.

Same here. From what I saw of Williams in the preseason (I missed the Jets game) he had plenty of dropped balls and otherwise looked unremarkable. I figured he'd get cut.

The Raiders are fools...

Have they gone insane. They just cut Colt Brennan.

The only reason you'd need five active corners is if one is there exclusively on special teams. There's no way we can get through the season with only four corners, but as a week one decision, it's easy. We would just have no inactives at the position.

Re: 2010 Redskins Final Cutdown

okay, so I don't see any chance that Bryant or VJAX coming here. Maybe Housh..big if.

But my question is, if we don't land that extra wideout we're targeting from the waivers wire, whomever that is, can we call Austin back up from the PS?

In a heart beat if he actually clears waivers and is not picked up by another team before tommorrow.

HOW DID HE NOT BEAT OUT WILLIAMS???? I am so confused over this.

That said, I wouldn't be shocked to see Austin back on the 53 come Dallas.
