Re: 2015 Coaching Carousel

I love how everyone still kills MS here. Like he was the only problem over in Ashburn. I think we can now see Allen, Snyder and Griffin were all MAJOR parts of the problem too. MS got tired of the sense of entitlement Griffin had and leaked it to the media. Gruden comes in, sees what's going on and says F it, and called Griffin out on it right to the media. Doesn't care who he pisses off. That was a big F u to Snyder. The trade has blown up in their faces cause Griffin stinks, we're short on talent partly because of the trade, and Bruce Allen's terrible FA selections. Now that we're at a all time low, SM has to come in and clean up this mess. It took Snyder 16 YEARS to hire a competent personnel man. MS wasn't the problem here. Snyder and Allen were.

I agree with almost all that you said.

But Mike Shanahan also pooped all over the organization - and fans, too, he pooped on us - on the way out the door. Such petty, spiteful, unprofessional behavior was uncalled for. He may have been in a no-win situation but he handled it especially poorly.

I agree, he shit on everyone. But had this been a stable NFL franchise, he's not going to do what he did. MS does not come off as a bad guy. He turned into that partly because of the environment he was in. Look what they did to Jim Zorn? Lol.

I've been ( and I'm sure some here as well ) in that same situation working for a terrible company. They shit on you so you do the same on your way out the door.

I've been in that situation and didn't poop on anyone, as the poop inevitably would hit the innocent (as Shanahan's poop landed on you and I).

This. Mike and Kyle Shannahan was just two small fried shrimps out of a big platter of monkey crap we had to eat.

Mike Shanahan was given control of this team, and he f*cked things up royally. If he was so blameless, he'd have an HC position right now. He's just another one of Snyder's terrible hires, period.

No one ever said he was blameless. He made his share of mistakes too. I think where Snyder messed up was giving him total control. Should have had a strong GM picking the players and let Mike coach the team.

Except that Mikey wouldn't have agreed to that. He wanted total control or he wasn't going to sign the contract.

... and "not blameless" is a pretty big understatement as to his share of poop on the monkey crap platter.

If he's some kid in his 20's - 30's, I get the dumping toxic waste. Guy's my age and, if he's can't be the bigger man at this stage in his life and just walk away, then he is one small, petty immature guy to being tossing a grenade in the door as he is walking out.

Re: 2015 Coaching Carousel

MS was a part of the problem. As was Griffin. As was Allen. As was Snyder. The way MS handled the last 6 games of the 2013 season was the low point for me. This year, as bad as it was, was all about shaking out the crud MS left behind.

I hope you are right. Even though they garnered one more win than last season. We played an easier schedule than Shanny's last year.

Re: 2015 Coaching Carousel

On the other hand to be fair to Mike, he was pretty much the front man for team Shanahan. I think the whole sh** show that was 2013 had a lot to do with Mike's choice of coaches (including his OC), his entourage (hi Adam Shefter), and personnel folks not named BA.

Shanahan may not have been the initiator of leaks, complaints, etc., but he didn't try to say "Oh, not me, that must have been Kyle (or some other coach)." Stuff was coming out that was clearly from the Shanahan camp and, by denying it all without pointing someone else, Shanahan did, at least, not attempt to throw any of his people under the bus and took all the backlash.

Re: 2015 Coaching Carousel

Ravens hired ex-Bears coach Marc Trestman as offensive coordinator.

Smarting from the loss of Gary Kubiak, the Ravens have found the best possible replacement. Trestman proved overmatched as the Bears' head coach, but has worked magic time and again with quarterbacks, from Rich Gannon to Josh McCown. Trestman fell on his face with a stubborn Jay Cutler, but is inheriting a much more "coachable" quarterback in Joe Flacco. Trestman's arrival should ensure Flacco's 2014 rebound from a rocky 2013 is not a one-year phenomenon.
