Re: Chester released

I think both are very sensible moves.

It seemed to me that an inordinate amount of pass rush was through the interior of our O-line. Hopefully, as was stated earlier, this means they like what they see from the young bucks.

Re: Chester released

Porter should have never been signed, Chester had some alright years but it was time to go.

Re: Chester released

Clearly Chester was a liability, and his release comes right after his first real work with Callahan at the OTAs. Sure, he was running with the first team, but clearly Callahan's fears from watching video of him were confirmed after just a day or two.

As far as Porter goes, now we know what Jay means when someone "missed his connecting flight".

Re: Chester released

Ha well done there...

Dymping Chester and Porter are honestly just smart moves neither is a long term solution to anything and porter was just a complete waste of money. All he ever did here was get some treatment and get paid handsomely to do so.

That was quick, going back to an old familiar coach:

Re: Chester released

It will be nice to seem some fresh blood in there at left guard. I think, as well as everyone else, it was time, and would have been so last year if we had someone else ready to go.

The team apparently is confident in Lauvao, and I read somewhere they thought he approved towards the end of the season. I hope that assessment is accurate. If it is, our line play should be greatly improved.

Improved Lauvao, much younger Spencer Long, and the 5th overall pick of the draft. 2.5 new starters that should all be improvement.

Hopefully Arie can provide depth at both guard spots, and Moses depth at both tackle spots.

Obviously all of this has be to be shown on the field, but I'm liking the direction the team is heading, at O-line especially.

Now that the wow of having the big name as passed, I'm actually glad we went with Scherff. Right tackle has been a drudge on this team, in what feels like forever.

Although, I think Leonard Williams will be awesome, it's ok, he went to the AFC East, we never really see the Jets, won't have to worry about him tearing us up. (and of course as I say this, I see that we play them this year lol, but in general its an accurate statement).

Re: Chester released

I'm hoping with Scot running the show we will see a lot of drafting form the o-line and developing of our own talent. Chris just wasn't very good the last few years and not worth the money that we are paying him. Glad to see him gone and looking forward to seeing the team, do things different and the correct way.

I'm not saying that we're going to be just like Seattle in three years, but looking at this year's draft it seems that Scot McC's is doing the same thing he did in his three years in Seattle: draft improve the trenches (o-line/d-line), not focus much on skill positions (including QB).

Re: Chester released

With a $4 million dollar cap hit, I wondered what took so long to release Chester. I'm thrilled that the team is going back to having bigger offensive linemen like similar to how it was under Gibbs and Zorn....power running is Redskins football.
