2012 NFL Draft Prospects

Decided to make this thread so we can argue about the college quarterbacks and other players who we think will or won't succeed at the next level here instead of other threads.

Hmm. I like the idea of this thread. Just thinking maybe it should be a bit more focused. And the thread title leaves it kind of open ended

Um...well, I'd probably start by taking Luck out of the equation because he just skews the whole conversation. So, taking Luck out..

"Which College QB Should We Draft in 2012"

"Which College QB is Most Likely To Succeed In The NFL"

Here's the seniors list.

NFL Draft - 2012_QB Draft Prospects - CBSSports.com - NFLDraftScout.com

Luck is a college senior, but he won't be out of NCAA eligibility at the end of the year. It won't matter though. Even if he were to be injured and miss the 2011 season, I still think he'd declare for the 2012 draft. And he would be the first pick.

Kind of a blah list. I haven't seen very much of Ryan Tannehill, though Texas A&M is coached by Mike Sherman, so he's doing a lot of pro style stuff there. I don't even think that matters, except it explains why he tops the list. I think John Brantley's stock will soar during the season, but he'll then drop to the middle rounds during pre-draft workouts.

I think Cousins could be very intriguing. I don't know how good he actually is though. He can definitely handle a pro offense, and will be drafted. I like Foles a lot more than the NFL types do. I like Lindley a lot less than the NFL types do. I wouldn't write off Jacory Harris just yet. He looked like a surefire star two years ago. Dominique Davis is going to have great numbers at ECU and he's going to make scouts drool. Could be a first round pick. Dan Persa is the prototype NU spread QB with a marginal NFL skill set who will be just dominant enough in an underdog college offense to be drafted.

I just think that Luck and Landry Jones will be first round picks next year. And that Jones has the best chance of succeeding in the NFL if we throw out the Luck.

I think the college QB most likely to succeed in the NFL is Matt Barkley, for numerous reasons, including one that he likely won't be in the 2012 draft.

Also, on the non-FBS player watch, Michael Paulus has been a really dominant player at William & Mary last season. I would put even odds on him being the Joe Flacco of the 2012 draft. He is a really good college player that no one knows about, in part because William & Mary used two quarterbacks as interchangeable starters last season.

We should tank the season so that we can draft Willy Korn at #1.

re: 2012 NFL Draft Prospects

Add to the list, Jacory Harris of Miami. I think he'll be a Heisman candidate this season as a senior. He's already 3rd in Hurricane history in yards and second in TD passes...and missed a quarter of his junior year due to a concussion. Kid can run well too.

He'll need to bulk up for the NFL at 6'4" and 195 pounds, but he has talent. He's been progressing and improving every year after looking unpolished early on.

I predict 3500 yards and 25 TDs in 2011 for him. In his sophomore season, he passed for 3300+ and 24 TDs, so it's nothing he has not done before.

Really? Man you talk about inconsistency...guy looks Mike Vick one game and tony banks the next. I worry about injury concerns, he doesnt "run strong" if it can be described that way when he scrambles. Miami could be horrible this year (again).

Jacory Harris will have to earn the starting job for starters, no pun intended. He has not been able to keep that job due to his inconsistency. He would be a 6-7th round pick at present and that's due in large part to his height. If the guy were a few inches shorter he would certainly be an UDFA.

He doesn't seem very smart & I'm not just saying that cause I'm a Cane hater.

Ha, the Hokie fans are awake.

Harris is my sleeper pick for the next season and draft.

Re: 2012 NFL Draft Prospects

I like Kirk Cousins. Michigan State seems to run the same kind of offense we do in spirit; strong run game, bootleg off the play action. Good arm, too.

His accuracy is scary sometimes though, and for all his physical talent, he has that "good Rex/bad Rex" thing too, where he could throw three touchdowns or he could throw three interceptions in any given game. But that said, I still like him. More than I like other guys, but I guess that's why I don't evaluate quarterbacks for a living.

Would it not be better to see how they perform this year and then discuss. I mean allot can happen between now and the national championship.
