No farging way do we spend a draft pick on a QB.
For what our needs are, we grab an UDFA or two.

I think the 4th would be ideal for Jones. We know McC spent time with him at the combine. If we moved backed and get some picks, I don't think McC would hesitate

I think he'll go in the 2nd round. He could go to a place like Dallas and learn from Romo for a couple seasons.

If we had extra picks, yeah, you can take fliers on people you normally wouldn't. Should be a fun draft.

We are all ok with Cardale Jones in the 3rd round?
Nah, to high for my taste. Great arm talent, but he's a long term project and imho he doesn't seem like a good fight for a precision WCO. Seem more like a fit for a Coryell downfield offense.

I would rather Brandon Allen.

Razorbacks shine during Pro Day drills - ESPN Video

Quarterback Brandon Allen looked sharp and accurate during a passing workout, which lasted almost 30 minutes. Allen interviewed with the Detroit Lions and Pittsburgh Steelers the past two days and last week worked out for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Heck, I would rather Jacoby Brissett then Jones.

if he makes it to the 4th then the value proposition changes quite a bit... in the 2nd or 3rd, i don't think i'd do it. it's also quite a lot to ask for a staff to take someone in the 2nd and then have him not contribute for 2-3 years. that staff might be gone by the time he's ready to go. not the best idea if you want to stay employed in a year to year league.

USC Su'a Cravens ProDay: Safety or LB
Omar Ruiz: USC linebacker Su'a Cravens would like to play safety in the NFL - NFL Videos

The headliner at USC pro day did not disappoint.

Su'a Cravens weighed in at 220 pounds and ran an official 40 time of 4.61, though several teams clocked him at 4.55 an 4.54.

He did both linebacker and defensive back drills and as told to me he looked "Fantastic; he caught everything but a cold."

I'm told while Cravens can get his weight up to 240 if necessary, but teams like him where he's currently. And as of late, most teams have him graded as a safety; not outside linebacker. Over the past two days, Cravens has met with the New England Patriots, Detroit Lions, Cleveland Browns and San Diego Chargers. And as expressed to me "there is scary interest from the Carolina Panthers" in Cravens.

Missouri
Linebacker Kentrell Brothers significantly improved several of his Combine marks today. His 40 timed as fast as 4.72 (4.89 at the Combine) and Brothers hit 31.5 inches in the vertical jump (28.5 inches at Combine). He was one pound lighter, weighing in at 244.

I like the part of the scouting report about driving the center back off the snap.

We've learned first hand over the past two years that the center being pushed into the QB's lap generally screws everything up.
