"Curious" absence of a Post writer...

I find it odd that Sally Jenkins didn't write a column this week... I guess there was nothing to gripe about or no negative issues to point out this week. Maybe she has a wicked yeast infection and couldn't turn on her computer. Either way, you have to call into question the integrity of the post which allows jounalists to expouse their personal issues within their articles. I always thought that journalists were meant to be objective.

Yeah, I wasn't so quick to jump on that bandwagon the last TWO losses, but I think it's time for me to.

I'll give her a couple of days to hear a halfway decent article before I begin the bashing.

I HATE SALLY JENKINS! Let's post her email address and bombard her for requests for an article on the San Fran game. She is such a bitch, never anything good going on at Redskins park. At least the other critics pay homage when things go right, she just runs off and hides like a scared little girl.

Sally Jenkins is a columnist not a reporter. It's exactly her job to expouse her personal views in a column.

Sally Jenkins is a joke. She writes for the Post, but lives in NYC. Her opinion on the Redskins really doesn't mean shit.

I wonder how many other NFL cities with local papers have a "columnist" that regularly bashes the local team and then scurries away and hides in a hole (like a snake)when the said team succeeds. I have no respect for cowards who can dish it out but can't take it and admit when they're wrong. Reminds me of the Bush government.

Having lived in a bunch of different cities I can tell you most local columnists bash the local team at one time or another. It sells papers.

I'm curious how you know she is hiding (and hiding from what?) and not off on another project for the paper, a book, health problem, family issue, etc..

Don't like her negative tone; not a surprise she has nothing to say this week. Typical.

I was thinking the same damn thing last night as the new WP articles were going online.

Where the heck is Jenkins with her negative views?

Oh that's right, the Skins won, kinda hard to be negative after a win, though I wouldn't put it past her.

Re: "Curious" absence of a Post writer...

irish is right on this one. Jenkins is a sports columnist, which is the sportswriting equivalent of an op/ed writer. She doesn't have to be objective, nor do you have to agree with her opinion. Conflict sells papers, and if there's venom to be spewed about the local sports team, you're sure to find it in the local paper. If you want nothing but love and adoration and positivity, the Redskins certainly provide ample media content of their own to satisfy you.

By the way, fellas, can we try to keep the misogyny to ourselves, please? There are women on these boards-- including my wife-- and I'm sure their opinion of this forum drops down another peg every time they see words like "bitch" being hurled at female journalists, or malicious references to yeast infections or any other hateful comments that would make this board appear to be yet another online bastion of male chauvinism, rather than the home of Redskins discussion for the knowledgeable fan-- male OR female. Let's try to keep that in mind when we're sharing our views on any subject.

I hate to be the PC watchdog for this board, but I want everyone to feel welcome here, and I want people-- both male and female-- to always come away from our site with a higher opinion of it. I don't know about you, but my esteem of a person or group has never been elevated by their use of chauvinistic or otherwise hateful language.

Thanks to those of you who care for helping to make this board the community that it is.

Many here use names for male media members also so I think the board takes on an "equal opportunity" tone really. "Bitch" seems fine to me but I would say negative references to specifically female issues are crossing the line.

i won't use any negative terms referring to females, but when i do say bitch i mean it like i hate them, not as a negatory female term.
