dumb move by the niners. he could conceivably head back to new england after just 8 games

Garoppolo to the 49ers

There’s no way the 49ers make this deal unless they feel pretty good about getting him signed long term. At worst they could franchise him. He’s not going anywhere. Why would he go back to NE to sit on the bench again??

That's not going to happen. It was a very smart move by the '9ers.

so do we see a KC/Garappolo trade before the end of the season? Hmmm.

J/k, I don't even know if we can trade KC on the FT.

Ha! I don't think we can trade a franchised player, but that's an interesting question! Honestly, I wouldn't mind Garappolo at all if we lost Cousins to San Fran. But I agree with what you said. I don't think San Fran goes through with this trade if they didn't have any intentions of signing JG long term.

Probably not, but Manning had multiple neck surgeries that left him with a rag arm. Favre was a gunslinger who often held the ball too long and took a lot of punishment. Brady sometimes doesn't even have to wash his jersey after a game. I think he could last a couple more years than those other 2 guys. Steve Deberg did start one game at 44. I say Brady plays till 42 or 43. Also he is so damn good he can fall off and still be better than average.

Yeah, it's almost comparing apples to oranges. Brady is so strict with his diet and his conditioning that he's become a freak of nature. He has simply shown no signs of regression like Favre or Manning had shown. OK, he's a bit slow when he scrambles, but he has never been quick on his feet, and he will give up and hit the ground long before other quarterbacks will. Not a knock on Brady, he just has taken all the right precautions to ensure a long and healthy career in the NFL. I'm no Brady fan, but he can easily last until 43. As matter of fact, with Hoyer's contract being a 3 year contract, it kind of makes me believe that when Brady hits 43, he'll retire and Hoodie will make his exit as well.

agreed!
Garapolo gets to go into this off season as the scheduled starter for once and doesn't have to live under Bradys umbrella for the rest of his career.

Re: Garoppolo to the 49ers

To what extent does Brady now think he controls his fate?

"The moment another player's helmet makes contact with my body, my muscles are pliable enough to absorb what's happening instantly," he writes. "My brain is thinking only lengthen and soften and disperse before my body absorbs and disperses the impact evenly and I hit the ground." Or, more simply, as he puts it in the interview, "I know my focus on pliability has helped me avoid so many injuries and bounce back so quickly from hits."

^^ basically the drunk college kid theory. Kid falls off building but survives bc he was so drunk his body was loose and was in a better position to absorb impact.

Maybe that is Brady's training regime all along. He just tanks up on Tequila before he goes out to play and somehow, it allows him to throw those deflated balls so much crisper and allows him to absorb all of those hits! I'll drink to that!

Re: Garoppolo to the 49ers

This is interesting:

San Francisco 49ers may not sign QB Jimmy Garoppolo to long-term deal
