Re: Around the NFL: NFL Offseason

If that's all they got for Wentz, Mariota is only worth a 4th or 5th

Re: Around the NFL: NFL Offseason

Wentz is going to start there. So it's a 3rd this year and a 1st next year, unless he gets hurt.

I actually think even a 3rd and a 2nd is too much, even if it doesn't become a 1st, especially considering his contract.

Way more than they should've gotten.

I wouldn't want Wentz for free given his contract.

Carson Wentz PFF Grade/rank by year:

2016 - 69.9 (21st)
2017 - 84.9 (5th)
2018 - 79.4 (14th)
2019 - 76.5 (14th)
2020 - 65.0 (31st)

Dude had one above average year. You know why? Mindset and work ethic. There are a lot of Eagles players and coaches who have come out publicly to say that Wentz doesn’t take accountability for poor in field decisions he has made, deflects blame to teammates, and doesn’t make an effort to do the little things coaches have asked him to do. He’s a major tool. Colts overpaid and are going to see a Foles 2.0 scenario next season.

This is news to me, but I don't follow the Iggles. Not to excuse Wentz, but to me it seems that the team, after their Super Bowl win, never put any good pieces around Wentz. Their WRs, TE, and OL is very old and should have been replaced a long time ago. When your WR2 is DJax, you are in trouble.

That being said, it would not surprise me at all what you just said, given the crazy regression he went through this year.

Re: Around the NFL: NFL Offseason

Considering his injury history, and the awful year he had last year, it sure seems like a lot to give up. I mean the Eagles couldn't afford to keep them anyway right?

It was the other way around. I am waiting to hear the financial details, but the Iggles are taking a huge financial hit in trading him.

Wow you are right!

Per Keim:

The Eagles will carry a $33.8 million dead-money cap charge for Carson Wentz in 2021. That will be the largest dead money charge in NFL history. Previous record would have been the $22.2 million the Rams will carry this year for Jared Goff.

Does that mean their payroll will have to be like 146 million this year? How does that work? Gonna have to cut like half their team if that's the case.

Glad we dodged that bullet.

Completely ridiculous trade by the Colts.
