Positive news indeed this potential off-season. Danny boy gets to blow some cash!!

Teams affected positively:

1. Washington Redskins: Owner Dan Snyder gave defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth and cornerback DeAngelo Hall around $36 million in bonus money in 2010 to free up room to be a big spender in free agency in 2011. Snyder and Mike Shanahan will have to be creative in how they structure contracts, because the $120 million cap would give them only around $10 million of cap room. On the positive side, the Redskins' current payroll is $75.7 million, meaning Snyder would have to spend close to $45 million in cash to meet the potential minimum floor requirements. Imagine a system that forces Snyder to spend.

Can't wait till the new CBA is finished so we can get to filling in some of our holes currently.


As a bonus, Dallas is getting screwed.

Teams affected negatively:

4. Dallas Cowboys: Owner Jerry Jones made sure his team wouldn't be ripped apart during tough labor times. He's always aggressive in re-signing his top players. But the Cowboys are currently a minimum of $18.9 million over the salary cap, which could spell doom for right tackle Marc Colombo, wide receiver Roy Williams and others. Jones also has to come up with some room to re-sign left tackle Doug Free and others.

It would be a problem if that idiot Vinny were still here. Good thing we have a good GM/Coach combo working in the front office now. They've been on point with contracts so far, and their moves (minus the McNabb deal) so far. I feel confident we'll be back to winning divisions within the next 5 years.

I would like to see this team do a better job scouting free agents and finding players that fit the coaching scheme. I honestly feel that this has been an issue over the past years.

I really hope the front office doesn't go back to the old ways of gasing up Redskin One. Actually I hope they don't really sign anyone except some undrafted free agents.

They've been on point with how they do the contacts. But they've had some horrible misses on who they've picked...McNabb, Brown, Lichtenstiger, (sp) and the nose tackle Maake K. But they've also had some keepers. The jury is still out and that's why I'd like them to get some more good young players to build around and then go out and get free agents.

I'm not concerned about Allen/Shanahan going buck wild ala Vinny. Allen is too smart of a front office guy to overpay and make absurd deals. That said we do have a lot of holes to fill, and in a potentially deep FA class the time to spend some $$ is now.

To be fair, they were limited with their moves due to free agents being restricted in the uncapped year. They went after the Broncos T Harris but couldn't get it done. Brown was a consolation prize and did a lot better than Heyer has ever done(i still don't think Brown was ever completely healthy).

A lot of people are considering Brown a bust, but he really came on at the end of the season and unless we find someone we think can be a legit starting RT, I really want to see him coming back.

Yeah, that will solve our issues.

We need a starting CB, some offensive linemen, a NT, maybe some more LB depth, and you want to sign UDFAs to fill all of these key needs?

I wouldn't call Lichtensteiger a bust. He's only 26 years old, played pretty solidly toward the end of the year and has taken a leadership role with the OL during this off-season.

Brown is still an incomplete for me. He improved down the stretch as he got healthier. We knew going in that he wasn't going to be 100%.

Lichtensteiger a miss? I thought he was ok and it's not like he was a big name pickup or signed a bad deal.
