This path was the best option. They get a proven veteran at the price they can manage. They also get a compensatory pick. Something they would not have gotten had KC left as a free agent.

It was not a 'blockbuster' but it was the best option available. Best news is they ended the Cousins drama before it could get another head of steam.

Applauding the FO for this move is silly. They created this mess when they shit all over themselves handling KC and now I am supposed to be happy with them cleaning up the mess they made the best they can? I expect more from my kids than people expect from the Redskins FO.

I think that Smith will be better in Jay's system than KC was and this gives us freedom in the draft (my hope is move back 6-8 spots pick up another 2nd and draft Lamar Jackson to groom) and plenty of money to resign Breeland. and or Zach Brown. Breeland is equal to fuller if not better and we are DEEP at CB.

Fuller had a good yr man, its not like he is jalen ramsey... He's a solid CB that is all there is to that. You are right though we NEED A RB bad. Smith is 33 soon to be 34, he has at most 3 years left probably, dont rule out drafting a QB at 13 yet

Yeah he was in Reid's system anybody remember the last QB Reid traded to the Redskins? Don't think we are headed to McNabb 2.0 but Reid knows value in QB the fact he was ready to let him walk says a lot to me.

Reid is a pretty damn QB friendly coach/system too. In terms of numbers I think Smith can pick right up where Kirk left off. Probably lower turnovers and better rushing numbers though.

I'm dumb when it comes to how guaranteed money affects the cap, but that being said, does the deal with Alex Smith free up money to possibly re-sign guys like Zach Brown?

I'm no cap expert but I did see Albert Breer say yes it helps and they can go get a couple guys in FA now
