Re: Day 3 NFL Draft 2016 Rounds 4-7
Not questioning the strategy, but I am confused by it. We have needs now, trading for extra 5th rounders next year doesn't seem to help. I figured even if we didn't think a DT fit there, we could have gone with a good RB or a C/G.

Wow....trading completely out of the 4th round. Wtf??? C'mon Scot! We just have to remember that for SM he likes a lot of picks. He's thinking he can get quality players in the later rounds. Gotta trust him in this, even though we may not agree with it.

Re: Day 3 NFL Draft 2016 Rounds 4-7
To me, 6th and 7th round picks are craps shoots. And I couldn't care less about getting mid-round picks next year. We could have picked a very good player in that spot and now we just moved down practically a full round without any additional picks this year. Scot said he wanted 12 picks this year but instead he has picked up two late picks for next year. I am not at all impressed with his draft trades.

I think you have to look at SM's past going back to when he was w/SF. He's grabbed numerous talented players over the years in the late rounds.

This trade sucked. If we were going to trade out of the 4th at least secure an extra 4th next year. This trade benefits them, not us.

Re: Day 3 NFL Draft 2016 Rounds 4-7
I guess he has alot of guys he would roll with left on his board because a 4th round pick in a deep draft like this is way >>>>>>> than a 5th round next year?

Re: Day 3 NFL Draft 2016 Rounds 4-7
I can't argue that right now because I haven't been a big fan so far. That said, Scot is getting paid to do the job with a crew of pro scouts and a history of building winners so I have to trust that when we look back at this draft next year, we'll be pleased. If you could grade the draft today and be right, you'd be doing what 32 pro teams can't do..

Re: Day 3 NFL Draft 2016 Rounds 4-7
You gotta give Scot credit because I didn't think it was possible for him to get out of this draft without a decent D-Lineman. Yet, it looks like he might just be able to do it. Hell, I could have picked someone good for our DL this year. This has to count as a Scot screw-up.

Re: Day 3 NFL Draft 2016 Rounds 4-7
This entire draft has been an exercise in "In Scot we trust." Even though I don't believe 100% of our picks will pan out I have faith in his scouting abilities and general plan, so I will keep the faith. Besides, after the draft there may be players available on other teams that might be available for a trade, or they might be dumped once the draft is over. If we come out of the draft without any d-linemen, or possibly a couple project d-linemen, I trust Scot will make the necessary moves to get us through next year.
