1 for 11 on 3rd down conversions is a brutal stat, and a problem we had last year as well. But it's really about doing better on first and second downs.

Calm the hell down SmootSmack!
One 3rd down conversion is WAY better than zero.

Does anyone wonder if the Ravens blitzed their a** off to show they don't miss Ryan?

^^^^ yeah thats what the balmore sports station 105.7 said this morning that their new D coord (who worked under ryan, i think he was the LB coach last year) used a whole bunch of blitz packages last night. im not sure if that was done to show there will be no drop off from ryans D, the radio said it might have been that he wanted to show that the same D last year is going to be used this year.

plus after last year and the success the ravens had blitzing us, they didnt worry about getting burned for having a safety in the box . . . . they were right.

Why didn't we attack offensively to show we don't need Shanahan and Cutler?

I watched the Patriots/Eagles game as well, and both teams threw the ball down the field seveal times...Brady coming off a knee injury threw the ball long at least 5-6 times
What the hell is our deal, is the Redskins offese just a dink and dunk system...Im pissed, it looks exactly like the same old bull crap offense from last year..

ESPN just keeps showing the pass that Campell got pressured from the right side
and had the ball batted down...meaning the right tackle (and or) right guard screwed up!!!How often will we have to see that on 3rd down this year before they bring in a real RT???

Yeah I think Campbell checked down a couple of times when coverage was tight, which technically he should do. But the truth is more often than not coverage will be tight, and we need to complete those types of plays regardless. If nothing else, force a pass interference. For example, in last week's scrimmage Daniel threw a deep pass to Marko Mitchell and was able to draw a pass interference call on Tryon. I'm not saying we need to start the Chase Daniel era today but...

Re: Preseason Game 1 Quick Hitters: First of all, calm the hell down

I saw a last place team that looked like it has most of the same problems as it did last year. And our depth on both sides of the ball looks downright bad. But I need to calm the hell down.

I think the lone bright spot was Orakpo. I was at the game and it looked like he got pressure on Flacco on almost every passing play. He is gonna be GOOD. Other than that, we looked a little flat. But, hey its the first game of the pre-season.

One thing that pissed me off was the fact we didn't throw Cooley's way once. I know he wasn't in the game very long but it seems to me his production has gotten lesser and lesser every year. I wanna see more of him this year than last year definitely.

And I do agree with chickenmonkey, we need to throw downfield much more often than we did last year. The last deep completion I remember is the one to Moss in Week 2! You gotta at least try it to stretch the damn field!
