And Montae Nicholson turned out to be maybe our best pick from this year (I put him right there with Allen).

Really hard to predict how a draft will pan out.

'Sound FX': Kirk Cousins leads Redskins past 49ers to victory - NFL Videos

I like having Cousins mic'd up. Makes you appreciate him as a person and it's good to hear how competitive he is.

Re: Eagles vs. Skins Pregame (2nd Game)

Heard on radio ..

Norman - was doing 1 on 1 drills w helmet on
Bree - tried to do some kind of on-field rep or practice but stopped after 1 try.
Allen - good news is being reported that it was a clean fracture and he ash been put on 8 week IR.
Trent - did not participate

Team worked out former terp CB Nolan Carroll, signed former terp AJ Francis to 53.

I think we are 1 injury to Swearinger away from having the wheels come completely off this defense.

Don't agree with the last sentence. I think Allen was playing well but I think the defensive line has gotten tons deeper. Lanier has a natural pass rush skill set, and there's a number of other players on the roster who may be able to do some damage as a pocket pusher, especially since Ioannidis has established himself as someone you have to pay attention to.

I like our depth. CB is deep and safety has become deep. Hall is about to come back, and while old and coming off injury, he can still help at safety through savvy and recognition.

Swearinger is key but I think we're going to continue playing well on defense.

The defensive MVPs have been Tomsula and Manusky. We're better first and foremost because of vastly improved coaching. That's why I think we'll keep it up.

Re: Eagles vs. Skins Pregame (2nd Game)

-Josh Norman (ribs) took part in individual drills at Thursday's practice.

It's Norman's first appearance at practice since going down with a broken rib in Week 4.

-Redskins CB Bashaud Breeland (MCL) returned to individual drills at Thursday's practice but was quickly shut down by the coaching staff.

Per Liz Clarke of the Washington Post, Breeland was covering Jamison Crowder when coaches yelled for him to stop. It's unclear if he suffered a setback or if the Redskins are just being extra cautious with Breeland coming off a sprained MCL. He'll have an extra day to recover with Washington playing the Eagles on Monday night.

wow...nice surprise to see both these guys trying to get after it.

Heard Pat Kirwan make a good point yesterday, he said there’s always more splits than sweeps when it comes to division games.

Agreed about coaching, especially when guys are playing way better than last year, or way better than expected.

I do think Swearinger is bringing a lot to this D though.
Not only his play but he's a coach on the field, guys turn to him to know the call, he seems to like watching films and calls plays pre snap a lot.

I also like the energy he brings, he plays angry and it's contagious.
His personal foul on Garçon last week (after Nicholson went down) was stupid and cost us 4 points, but I like to see guys stepping up for their teammates.

This defense needs to start producing turnovers.

Re: Eagles vs. Skins Pregame (2nd Game)

The Philadelphia Eagles released their first injury report on Thurdsay in advance of their Week 7 game against the Washington Redskins.

For the first time since early in the season, not a single player sat out of practice entirely (although Chris Maragos was placed on injured reserve).

Their right tackle being back really sucks, his back up had a hard time against the panthers.

However, we have some key people out.
