Position Battles in Camp

Good article looking at an array of battles...competition everywhere

https://www.redskins.com/news/analyz...020-ron-rivera

Couple things I would love to see,

1. Rookies come in and take jobs...Charles at Left Tackle and AGG opposite Terry.

2. Guice finally stays healthy and starts over AP and others. The talent is there...if he could somehow stay healthy he would be a beast.

3. Someone out of the 7-9 TE in camp surprises and has a productive season. I’m not a Sprinkle fan..the job is way up in air. Still think we could add someone here

Re: Position Battles in Camp

I think it will be challenging for rookies to come in and take over the starting spots without a real training camp although I think there's a good chance it could happen in middle of the season.

I know not many share my opinion about Harmon but I still believe in Harmon and think we will see a growth from him in the second season.

I found this nugget, Thomas is athletic and I can see him making an impact on our offense. The question is how big of impact it will be. Based on Redskins' small efforts in improving the TE position, I believe Redskins are going to give Thomas the opportunity to prove himself, along with many other players in several positions. If the experiment doesn't work out then we can expect Redskins to find a solution next offseason.

I'd love to see Charles come in ready to rock and roll.

Thomas coming in and taking a next step in development would be huge. He’s a player to watch closely

I know Cooley isn't the end all be all with evaluations but I don't think he thinks much of Thomas and called him just a guy.

Yeah I'm not going to hold my breath on Thomas but it seems like it is his job to lose so I expect him to at least contribute some to the offense at some point.

Yup...I heard that too.

One thing that could be a positive is our TE coach seems fuckin legit....like he has had molded some good players

Side note with Cooley...does he seem a lil bitter about something? Was he promised something but it didn’t happen? Seems like he realllllllllly wants to coach TE or offense.

Haven't heard him in quite a while, so I couldn't say about the bitterness.
But I've often gotten the feeling he'd love to coach for this team.

Lucas is my favorite FA signing. I would be fine with him or Charles starting at LT. Or if Lucas shows out, him starting at RT, Charles starting at LT, and keeping Moses as high cost backup for a year.

Guice being healthy for anywhere near 16 games would be HUGE. Don't even care if he starts. Uber talented. We need him to be a weapon. He is so talented. But even moreso than that, he seems like a great dude and is definitely a hard worker. I hope he stays healthy for his sake. C'mon life!!!

Sprinkle is a # 3 at this point imo. I think he makes the team. But don't want to depend on him for production.

I think our biggest question is: Can Darby and Moreau stay healthy 1st and productive 2nd. I think Darby, Moreau, Fuller have all the talent in the world to be a good unit. But at the same time they all have questions. This question has at least 1 game +/- attached to it. I'd say more like 2. Huge in a 16 game season with lots of other units as part of the fornula.

You got two CB who have injury histories and in prove it years...it’s highly unlikely both stay healthy. It’s Darby job to lose, but I think Moreau can challenge if he can pick up where he left off last season.

I’m not giving up on Harmon, but AGG has speed and big play potential that Harmon lacks

Harmon is the best TE on the roster.
