Injuries around the NFL

According to NFL Network Chad Pennington will miss the entire '05 season and Jay Fiedler will miss at least six weeks. What a blow to the Jets.

Other injuries of note:

Rodney Harrison - out for the year (torn ACL, MCL, PCL?)
Takeo Spikes - out for the year (ruptured achilles...ouch)

***************************************

Let's hope and pray the Skins can get through without any major injuries this year.

Yep, they're starting to pile up.

Let's hope our season ending injury list starts and ends with Brandon Noble.

No kidding~ Suddenly the Fins may not be in bad shape after all!

But, yea Adam S. from NFL Network confirmed that Pennington will miss the remainder of the season with his second torn rotator cuff.

Appearantly he's going to Birmingham, AL to get a second opinion from the doctor that originally performed the surgery on him.

That really sucks for Pennington! He was out for most of the year last year wasn't he? Or either the year before that. I'd like to know how many players in the last 10 or 15 years could have been something great if it weren't for nagging injuries?

Man, that list of players would be really long.

And it was last year that Pennington had problems with that same shoulder. It's an injury that's more common in baseball, not too common among NFL athletes.

From what I've heard most pitchers that have had that surgery don't regain their stuff until two years removed from the surgery. Football is a different animal of course. Not only are you constantly moving in a throwing motion, but unlike pitchers a quarterback is actually taking a physical pounding from a 300 pound defensive lineman.

I tore my rotator cuff 8 years ago and to this day my shoulder hurts a bit. Man, it sucks to be Chat right now.

The Harrison injury is truly devastating, this may be the straw that broke the camels back. The injury bug is a bitch.

Re: Injuries around the NFL

Pennington INJ is huge. But honestly I think it reinforces to the Jets that they need to find a better, durable qb. Obviously he's not the answer. Less agile than Brunell and alot younger. Less arm perhaps than Brunell also. INJ prone, look for Jets to sign Jeff George, Chris Chandler or even Phillip Rivers... Glad we got Brunell, Ramsey and Campbell.

I'd say it starts with Tupa and Hall not Noble. Tupa and Hall are bigger losses at this point.

Re: Injuries around the NFL

I think someone says this every year, but doesn't this seem like a lot more season/career ending injuries? Perhaps it is because they are all players I know of.

Re: Injuries around the NFL

so far pennington is a maybe as far as career ending... noble and tupa might be too, but tupa is over 40 and noble is a bit player.
