Really? There's no restrictions about dead money? IMO this completely changes the dynamics of the nfl. A few super rich teams can entice players to come to them by guaranteeing much more money than anyone else. How much money an owner has to spend will become much more valuable (like baseball). Also contracts can constantly be restructuring contracts to convert salary for one year into bonus money allocated over the rest of their contract. Hell a raise can even be given for agreeing to doing so. I just think this cap will be very easy to manipulate and the money that the owners are willing to spend will become much more important.
To date the draft has been the way to build a team, and teams that attempt to do so in free agency have largely been unsuccessful. I believe this new cba could easily shift the balance of the importance of free agency to be more in line with the importance of the draft.

So both sides had a lockout insurance plan. Smart and/or scary.

Say what you want, if both sides get a deal they can live with and none of the season is lost, D. Smith has definitely been doing something right.

I've actually met and spoken with De Smith on a few different occasions. Pompous he is not. He's actually a really laid back dude who's very unpretentious and quite conversational.
