Skins vs. Steelers Positives and Negatives

Let's start it off with sdskinsfan2001's post from the gameday thread:

Positives:

We still have 15 more games.

Negatives:

No running game
No stopping the run
No stopping the pass
No pass rush
Bad QB play
Tons of penalties
Bad coaching on offense and defense

My comments:

Well said, sdskinsfan. That sums things up perfectly while sparing us the gory details. OK, that should do it for the positives and negatives for this week. On to Dallas week!

No, no I'm just kidding. First, I want for all of us to have an opportunity to vent our anger and wallow in our self-pity. But just for today, OK? It's a short week (Thank Goodness!). Personally, I want to be very specific and no doubt unfair in my comments.

Positives

1. Positives? Positives?!!! That was one stink'in super turd of a game!
2. No serious injuries.

Negatives

1. Poor coaching.

- The Steelers had one, just one, WR who could beat us and yet Joe Barry couldn't find some way to put our zillion dollar All-Pro CB on him to try to shut him down? Horrible coaching!

- I was licking my chops in anticipation of all the ways Joe Barry was going to use our Secret Weapon, S'ua Cravens, to disrupt the Steelers offense. But, NO! Fail!

- There was much more poor coaching in this game, but I don't want to have an aneurism, so you folks can take over from here.

2. Poor play.

- Where was the safety help for poor Beshaud Breeland? Our safeties suck! S'ua Cravens needs to start at SS.

- How could our O-Line have so many procedure penalties in our own damn stadium? The numerous off-sides and holding penalties hurt our offense throughout the game.

- Our D-Line is pathetic. Shame on you, Scot, for not doing something about our crappy DL personnel in the off-season!

- RB pass protection. Are you kidding me? That little, tiny 3rd Down back of ours couldn't block my hunch-backed granny! Hey, Scot! Yes, you again. Please get off your ass and bring in a real, actual NFL veteran RB to help us out.

- I've got to get back on Kory L.'s case. As far as I know, there is no pass play designed for the C to be pushed back into the QB's lap. I'll say it once more, we need to start either Long or Reiter at C.

- I have to stop now, for health reasons. You can take over.

Skins vs. Steelers Positives and Negatives

We got outclassed by a team that should be in the SB conversation in the AFC.

A lot of work to do on our end, but we've got too many weapons on offense to not get it going.

Defensively I don't understand not using your best corner of their best WR all day long.

Too many penalties, obviously.

Plenty of adjustments are needed on both sides of the ball.

Re: Skins vs. Steelers Positives and Negatives

Same shit different season.

We make a playoff game like every 3 years and that playoff game sets us back at least 2 or 3 seasons. The RGIII playoff game with his knee and last years now gives us basically one of the toughest schedules in the NFL.

I could have taken a lost last night i actually expected it but a ass whopping is what has me fawking mad today.

Just a shit team.

We got our ass beat not just outclassed. We can't hang with the GB and Pitts of the league at all.

2-15 on MNF at home... Horrible.

Pitt is great and will be a top 4 team once again this season. AB is stupid good and wait until bell comes back.. Big Ben is playing at an MVP level. They are just clearly better than us and we as fans just didn't realize it until last night. Luckily for us we can start over against a Dallas team with a rookie QB and RB at home Sunday. If we are the best in the east we have to win that game.

Re: Skins vs. Steelers Positives and Negatives

McC stated in the offseason he wanted to get better at running the ball and get better at stopping the run. So I think that's still our Achilles heel

We cant rely on Cousins to put the ball up 40 times a game...that's just not smart football

Kory L is top 3 worst centers in the league

Well he didn't accomplish any of that. Letting Aflmo walk is starting to look dumb.

I would seriously consider bringing in Rice for a look.

Re: Skins vs. Steelers Positives and Negatives

Positives: No injuries. The receiving core looked pretty good for the most part, no help from Cousins. Hopkins still looks sharp, fingers crossed. Redskins tend to be cursed with kickers; 1 good season then a complete fall off a cliff. Hoping he's actually our franchise kicker (???)

Negatives: Literally everything else. The coaching was completely absent, Gruden has the balls of a fetus in utero, Barry is Gruden's fetal eunuch twin, Cousins was replaced by Mr. Magoo, the d-line played like a bunch of high schoolers (that may be an insult to some decent high school teams), Chris Thompson did better than Matt Jones who just looks slow, but granted he was running behind a center who I'd be surprised could do more than 2 bench press reps and a $3 bootleg dvd LG.

Re: Skins vs. Steelers Positives and Negatives

Preston Smith had some good pressures last night, he was the only guy really doing anything along the line. We had a ton of guys get themselves out of position on the running plays, really poor discipline. I think Breeland did ok against Brown, the best your gonna do against him is 50/50. He needed more safety help, and they always seemed to be a few yards away.

I'm really hoping they were just super rusty, and they shake it off fast.

Maybe that is why Norman was yelling at Bruton.

Breeland got smoked, did he make any plays at all on Brown?

Corners get beat, it happens, especially against the best in the biz. But Breeland had a flat out bad game.
