Re: Redskins 31 Browns 20 post game talk

Hard to imagine the defense could have looked worse. Against a terrible team with a third string quarterback, the defense managed to surrender just shy of 400 yards. Crowell and Johnson averaged 6.9 yards per carry over 24 carries. There aren't words to explain how bad that is. The Browns coverted two-thirds of third downs, and how many of those were third-and-long?

It is me or does this team blitz less on third and long than just about any defense you've ever seen? And what's the point of dropping every back into coverage if the opponent is going to covert anyway?

The maddening part is the defense doesn't seem to learn from its mistakes. They continue to give too much cushion and free run on third downs. Get up in the receivers' face and challenge them already.

The Browns aren't the garbage team on offense everyone is acting like they are.

In run blocking/pass pro, I believe at least three of their offensive linemen rank in the top ten. Reiter was owned yesterday, but you have a future HOFer (maybe) in Long and two other great blockers. Crowell is also a BEAST of a back.

Kessler also took what the defense gave him. Reminded me a lot of a less mobile Dak.

The biggest thing I noticed was our lack of pressure. We were playing safe with our DBs and the pressure just never got there. Even when we sent a blitz it was picked up.

That was the loss of Kerrigan you were noticing. After last week maybe now people will STFU about getting on that guy's case.

We need to bring Sua more, he's a playmaker period. Norman never needs to blitz because he's literally the only guy that can cover... Where has smith been?? Huge surprise so far, and not a good one. Hopefully RK and Bree will be back

Where was Djax?
Brutton
Getting tired of Barry not adjusting (if we would have lost, I would have fired his ass and promote Fewell or Manusky as DC)
1) Do you think part of that bad 1st half by Norman was on him recovering for illness this week? He really didn't seem a 100% to me. On The Pryor TD he got safety help and was outrun. I mean when I get sick I'm not well for a few days, I know I'm not a professional athlete, but this is not something you can train.

Anyway, he showed he was a great player during the 2nd half, and I love his tackling. For a high paid CB, he's not shying away from contact at all.

2) I'm really high on this O-line.

3) Am I the only one thinking we miss Keenan Robinson ? Compton might be a great teammate and leader... but he's not strong enough for the position IMO. Foster was the only one tackling properly but he's not elite.

4) I'm really high on this O-line.

Have we seen much of a Kerrigan/Murphy package? With Smith not lighting it up, I wonder how that would look considering Murphy has been doing really well with that extra weight. I know he lost some, but he still looks huge.

and the ILB"s are worse than the OLB's, hence why everyone runs up the middle on us . . . fix the damn middle of the defense!!

I think the key is getting all three of them on the field in nickel situations.

Re: Redskins 31 Browns 20 post game talk

One thing I'm going to throw out there as a glimmer of hope for our team, in general. I think our depth is better than most NFL teams. The further you go into the season the more injuries and the more you have to dip into your bench, even bring guys up from the practice squad to play a role.

We have a few impact guys, and we'd like our starters to be better in a couple spots. But the depth on the offensive line, at WR, and in the secondary is very good.

You never know, it's depth like this that can help you pull out a game you weren't supposed to win.

I agree with most everything except for the criticism of Djax, his play resulted in almost 80 yard worth of PI and at least the first one would have been a catch and touchdown. It doesn't show on the stats sheet but he was huge and needs to be resigned long term.
