Re: Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread
How about Cleveland's first round pick this year and next year for KC?

Re: Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread
well, "business is business"...so this needs to play out.
The Franchise Tag might be the best option, if they're really that far apart. We need to make sure we don't fall into the Joe Flacco scenario, where we overpay for mediocre QB play in the future. The Transition Tag shouldn't even be in the discussion, because the 'Skins get nothing in compensation if someone else decides to over pay. |

Re: Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread
Using the Transition Tag or trading Kirk are both ridiculous ideas.

Re: Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread
I wouldn't. I don't see a qb in the draft where we could replace him and I think that is the only arguement you could make for trading kc.

Trading Cousins would be retarded.

Update: NFL.com reports that Redskins are going to place "transition" tag on Cousins, so that means he can negotiate with other teams, right?? Why do they want Cousins gone? WTF happened?

Re: Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread
the might be saying we think you're asking too much, see what you can get and we'll match it. scot and kirk's agent are actually friends.

Re: Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread
I'm thankful that we have some solid thinkers on this site to balance out the panicky Chicken Littles. Some of you guys have no intestinal fortitude.
Chill! This is a negotiation, it's a staring contest. Both sides are trying to make one another blink, which includes leaks to the media about possibilities of trades and transition tags to drive the value to a palatable point. You have to take a step back and understand the big picture; Kirk loves Gruden and McVay especially. He has a strong line here, a fantastic deep threat in Jackson, an elite receiving TE in Reed, and he's eager to show he can do it again. If he left he'd have a whole new offense to learn. Meanwhile the Skins haven't had promise at QB since the glimpse we saw from Robert in 2012. Aside from that you have to go back to Brad Johnson to find QB play to be genuinely proud of. Jay Gruden's offense is predicated on timing and quick decisions, which Cousins fits absolutely perfectly. THEY BOTH WANT EACH OTHER. I have a high level of confidence that a long term deal will be done by Week 1. Just chill, negotiations are cold hearted shit. You need to be willing to stare the other side down without blinking, that's all this is. R E L A X.

Re: Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread
No doubt, who the heck would want to start all over with a new quarterback search. It would set the team back two years.

Makes sense if true. Looks like 16.5 million could be the end number...would be appropriate value

Washington To Use Tag On Kirk Cousins?
These are rumors, as indicated by the name of the website but. . . If the team is offering 15mpy and Kirk wants 19mpy, a deal definitely gets done. 15m is a low ball offer.

$12.5M as an initial offer was definitely low-ball. $16-$17M / year seems right. |
