I agree. I am secretly hoping that they have a plan to recoup picks, like maybe trading a player or two (maybe Rak depending on what they do in FA?)

Thought I would like to see RGIII on the team next year, but not at this price. I'm not sure how we will fill some of the other holes and continue to get young over the next couple years to help him out. I suppose they know what they are doing......hopefully.....

Huge. Thought it would take at least the weekend and until mid week to get a deal done.

Also I want to know how the rumors went from us offering our first this year and next year, but not willing to give up our second this year, to us giving them our first and second this year as well as our 2 firsts for the next 2 years. How does that happen?
P.M said no to us, thats how

That is correct.

Basically, this is the coach/GM saying that if he's coaching for his job this year, he might as well take three drafts and put them into one.

The fundamental problem with this trade has nothing to do with Griffin, who profiles as a sensational player. It's that the Redskins still figure to be a pretty weak team in 2012. And then what? Essentially, they go as Griffin (or, I'll say it, Luck) goes and that really hurts the Redskins going forward.

Because if Griffin isn't Cam Newton in year one, there will be a large population of the NFL world that will view him as more of a gimmick than a true, by-the-book franchise quarterback.

Not according to the reports I'm seeing? Everything I'm seeing says we gave up our 1st and 2nd this year, plus our 1st in 2013 and 2014.

Again I hate to say "told you so! told you so!" But again I want to point out what I said a while back about how we'd give up

Re: What is the 2nd overall pick worth?
I'm telling you all the final trade will probably be

2012 1st
2012 2nd
2012 4th
2013 1st
2013 3rd

It's going to be a lot. Unlike the Manning for Rivers trade, there was only 1 team interested, the Giants. This year we have at least 3, Us, Cleveland, and Miami. = Price goes up.

Ditka looks brilliant in comparison for getting Ricky Williams.

Any chance we at least recoup some picks, like a 3rd or something?
Everyone needs to realize it's 2 1sts and 2nd. We swapped 1st rounders, so when you say we gave up a 1st rounder, it was for a 1st rounder, so that's essentially actually a net gain, since that swap represents four slots at the top of the 1st round.

So 2 1sts and a 2nd. I don't love that it's the 2nd this year and not the 3rd, but hey, if he ends up a top NFL QB, then who cares really? Gotta give to get.

We are giving our #1 up this year for a higher pick. So, #6 for the #2.

Re: Redskins agree to trade for No.2 overall pick in 2012 Draft

Stupid. You just traded away 3 badly needed starters for one. What happened through getting more picks like NE and building steadily. This kid isn't a Manning or Elway or Luck type out of college. He is a very good QB no less, but played in a weakend Big 12 that happens to be defensively deficient most of the time. Snyder has done it again, got the fans snagged on the hot sexy pick, hoping it will pan out. I think BA and Shanny are feeling the heat so they went against the plan to save their asses. I like RG III a lot, but 3 first rounders for a still unproven commodity at the NFL level is not wise.

Well, I for one was planning on using this year's 6th overall pick.
