Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal

Per @JasonLaCanfora
Trent Williams issues with Skins are not financial at all according to numerous sources with knowledge of the situation. He's told teammates he has demanded a trade or his release from the club due to their handling of his recent medical situation. Has vowed not to play for them

Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal

He is a perennial pro bowler, there is no denying his ability to play an important position. The issue is averaging to miss 1/4 of the games over the last 3 years and he is over the age of 30, so I won't expect his health trend to improve. If Sportrac has NFL tackle salaries correct Trent is getting 85% of the $16 mil top pay for his position. That is $1 mil a game, Trent plays about 12 games a year. The numbers don't add up for giving him a raise.

If Trent was on the open market right now dude would get paid. Some of you guys are really overthinking this.

And some of you (not you Matty) are under-thinking this. Trent has been a warrior for us, pure and simple. Is he perfect? No. The suspensions and injuries have been frustrating -- but that frustration is so great because his contributions have been so great. (I'll always be grateful for the bitch slap of Richard Sherman after the Seahawks payoff loss.)

The cap gurus will set to work and I am sure do their level best to massage the cap spend to make him happy and retain Scherff. Is it possible that we lose someone like V. Davis in the process? Absolutely. But that's always a possibility.

What kind of contract do you think he would command as far as years and AAV?

I can't vote, because I am in neither camp. Don't pay him anymore, and don't trade him - in 2019.

Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal

It's very simple. You either play, or you sit home. Maybe an injury happens to a SB contenting type of team in training camp.

I don’t know, Moses is saying what JLC is saying.

If Trent doesn’t come back, Scherff to LT, Martin at LG, Piersbacher at RG. scherff was a hell of a LT in college.

The G/C from Alabama is no where near a starter and hopefully he doesn't see the field.

He is depth at best this year he doesn't have the strength to handle NFL DT yet.

If losing one offensive lineman, even though he is our best (arguably considering availability), makes us desperate, then we aren't winning jack anyway.

See the eagles with Layne Johnson's and Jason Peters' availability they managed.

If our situation is truly that pitiful, you're really making the case to blow it up and trade him for picks.

AND really making the case to fire our GM.

We've been constantly rebuilding.

I would rather be picking top 5 next year than top 15. (When the season starts and the cool aid starts flowing I'm totally going to change this position but reason dictates the present take.)

Well there are two sides to every story but this can't look good for the Redskins. They just continue to take one PR hit after another.

As far as Scherff at LT, no way. He doesn't have the quickness to play out there. We drafted Christian to play tackle so let him do it.

I have a feeling once the season gets closer this will all be forgotten. Maybe the Redskins give him another million dollars to sooth things over.

Trent Williams holding out for new deal

Ill be shocked if TW ever sets foot on the field in a Skins uniform again. So Reuben Foster, Trent Williams both gone. Barely June. Who cares why. This organization is a train-wreck. Lol
Our LT is gone, our rookie QB is gonna get his ass handed to him, it will all come back one way or another to something BA did or didn’t do or say, .....and than BA will get a promotion. Go us.

Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal

Moses backing up the JLC story is a bit shocking. I was hoping it was typical JLC bullshit.

When a player like TW speaks out, you need to listen.
Hopefully him demanding a trade/cut was just a way to get the attention of the team and the league.
